Bristol City News and Form – Will the Robins bounce back?

Lee Johnson’s Bristol City have made a good start to their season, winning nine of 21 games to take 35 points from a possible 63. The Robins have netted 34 goals along the way, with just West Bromwich Albion scoring more up until now.

A week ago, the Robins secured a sensational away win at Fulham. Goals from Josh Brownhill and Famara Diedhiou helped City to a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage. Unfortunately, they followed that up with a poor 2-1 home loss to Millwall in midweek.

 

 

Just like several teams in this season’s Championship, Bristol City’s ultimate goal will be a play-off spot. At the time of writing, the Robins are fourth in the table, level on points with third place Fulham, but 11 points behind joint leaders Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion. Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers have gone under the radar this season. The Blue and Whites are currently in tenth position in the Championship table, three points away from the top six. A win on Saturday would take them to within a point of Bristol City.

Mowbray’s boys head into this one having won five of their last seven. That’s quite some turnaround, as Rovers had failed to win in six (two draws, four defeats) before then. Since narrowly losing at Elland Road, Blackburn have taken 13 points from the last 15 on offer. Before last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, Rovers had won four in a row.
