Burnley v Leeds Betting Preview – EFL Cup 19th September 7.45pm

The Clarets will get a tough game in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night as they welcome Leeds to Turf Moor. Burnley have been going surprisingly well in the top flight this season, but may well change things up for the cup. Leeds have been on fire this season having conceded just three goals in eight league games to sit top of the Championship table and they will be up for claiming a Premier League scalp no doubt. This should be pretty interesting.

Burnley v Leeds EFL Cup Betting Tips

This should be one of the better games of the next round of EFL Cup matches. Burnley are favourites as they are at home for the clash, but you would imagine that Leads are not going to give them a particularly easy time of things. Burnley can be really pleased with their efforts this season in the Premier League having collected eight points from their five games. Remarkably, five of those eight points came away from home with a win at Chelsea and draws at Spurs and Liverpool. They are not a side who have a whole bunch of goals in them and Chris Wood skips this one, the former Leeds man not playing against the side who sold him in the summer. Sam Vokes is the 11/8 anytime goalscorer favourite at bet365 for the tie. You probably won’t see goals flying around Turf Moor in the fixture as both are tidy enough at the back to keep the score down. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 looks a decent poke at a price of 4/5. In the last round, Burnley took a 2-0 win at Blackburn to move ahead.

Leeds have done well in the Championship so far this season, they are setting the pace at the table, despite a loss on the weekend at Millwall, which snapped their unbeaten streak from the start of the season. From their eight league games in the second tier, Leeds have collected six clean sheets and have conceded just the three goals in total. On top of that, Leeds are the second highest scorers in the Championship as well so will likely match up evenly against Burnley. The question is, will they go full strength for this one? Unlikely. So there is a price of 4/5 at bet365 on both teams NOT to score in this fixture and that has happened in two for the last three between these at Turf Moor. The two were paired up in the 2015/16 Championship season when Burnley took a 1-0 home win. Leeds have lost their last three away games at Turf Moor and two of those defeats were by a 1-0 scoreline, all three by just the one goal margin. A Burnley 1-0 correct score at bet365 returns a price of 11/2 which is the shortest priced option in the market. Following a trend then in what will probably be a low scoring fixture, Burnley to win by a one goal margin is a 5/2 price.

Burnley v Leeds EFL Cup Predictions

Draw: It is worth backing the draw at 90 minutes in this one, just because Leeds are set up defensively well this season. Burnley aren’t great attacking powerhouses and both will probably make changes for this one, so settle on the draw.
