Burnley News and Form – Can the Clarets upset Liverpool?

It is four points from three games that Burnley have on the board at the start of this new Premier League campaign. To be fair, it should have been more. Following their 3-0 win over Southampton to kick things off, they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal. But the Clarets should easily have gotten a draw at least out of that. Then last weekend they had the beating of Wolves but conceded an equalising goal in the 97th minute of play.

The positive from that, aside from the points that they have taken, is a three-match scoring streak that they are on. Ashely Barnes has been the man of the hour for the Clarets with him having scored all but of Burnley’s five league goals this season. Burnley sent out an under-strength side in midweek and lost against League One’s Sunderland in the EFL Cup. It’s unlikely that they will care too much about that.

Burnley’s last three games against Liverpool in all competitions have gone over 2.5 goals so there’s a betting trend for the game. Their opponents for the weekend have not looked great at the back so far this season, so it is probably worth leaning towards both teams getting on the scoresheet in a high scoring game. Burnley posted a W7 D2 L10 record at Turf Moor last season but lost five of their six home fixtures against top-six sides, including a 3-1 loss against Liverpool.

Key-Facts – Burnley v Liverpool

Liverpool News and Form – Will the Reds get the better of Burnley at Turf Moor?

Even though it is only three games into the new season, but surprisingly Liverpool are the only ones with a 100% record so far. Last weekend they made it three wins from three as they cruised to a 3-1 home success over Arsenal. That added to their previous successes this season against Norwich and Southampton. So that’s nine goals from Liverpool from their three games played.

In total Liverpool are on a twelve match winning streak in the league at the moment. The Reds have scored at least two goals in all twelve of those games in the sequence. Liverpool have also netted at least 2 goals in their last three matches against Burnley. So a decent betting angle in this game is for the Reds to get at least two goals on the board at Turf Moor.

Mo Salah so far is the only player to get past one goal for Liverpool this season. He has three for the campaign after netting a brace against Arsenal last weekend. In their one away game this season, Liverpool made a trip to Southampton and got a 2-1 win, without ever playing anywhere near their best. There has been no clean sheet form the Reds so far this season, but still, they have been winning at both half time and full time in their last 12 league games.

Burnley v Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool to win: We don’t see the defence of Burnley having quite enough to keep out the Liverpool attacking juggernaut. However, the Clarets may well be able to stay competitive and in the game at least until the half time break. The half time draw, but Liverpool to win outright in the HT/FT market.
