Burnley v Newcastle Betting Preview – Premier League 30th October 8.00pm

This is an interesting Monday night fixture. They have both had good seasons in their own rights and going into the weekend’s fixtures, they are both sat inside the top eight and not many people would have expected that. Burnley have gone well again at Turf Moor this season and won’t be a pushover, but have to respond to a loss at Man City last weekend. Will Newcastle be able to break their resilience though as the Magpies go there on the back of a win over Crystal Palace a week ago?

Burnley v Newcastle Betting Tips

The Clarets have enjoyed a hugely positive season in the top flight with just the two defeats suffered this term. The second one happened last weekend when they fell 3-0 at the Etihad against Manchester City, but they stuck in there well and only a penalty from Sergio Aguero separated the two until the final twenty minutes. Burnley have gone W1 D2 L1 at home this season in the Premier League, their only success coming against Crystal Palace. Burnley have been a little wasteful in front of goal at Turf Moor this season which has set them back a little bit and Under 2.5 goals has value at 8/13 but you can probably push to under 1.5 goals at Bet Victor for a 7/4 punt in this one. Only one of Burnley’s league home games this term have produced more than one goal. Burnley have only netted the two home goals this season but have conceded two.

Last League Head to Head

Newcastle 3 – 3 Burnley
Burnley 1 -1 Newcastle
Burnley 1 -0 Newcastle
Newcastle 3 – 0 Burnley
Newcastle 1 – 1 Burnley
Burnley 3 – 2 Newcastle

In the Bet Victor correct score market, a Burnley 1-0 result is a price of 15/2, which only a Newcastle 1-0 at 7/1 and the 1-1 draw shorter at 11/2. The bookmakers clearly are not expecting this to be a high scoring game at all them. Chris Wood looks Burnley’s best option going forward and the New Zealander is a price of 2/1 in the anytime goalscorer market to get on the scoresheet. Wood has netted three of Burnley’s eight league goals in the top flight this season. There have been two clean sheets for the Clarets at Turf Moor this term and Burnley to win to nil returns an option of 7/2. There has been tremendous fight and resilience from Burnley this season but in all competitions now they have won just the one game in a W1 D4 L1 record. At home across all competitions, Burnley are W1 D3 L1 so you can imagine that this one is just going to be as tight for them.

Current League Form (most recent last)

Newcastle can be pretty pleased with their recent output in the Premier League now because they have only slipped to one to defeat in their last seven games now. They managed to snap a three match winless streak last weekend with a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace. Away from home Rafa Benitez’s men have picked up only the one victory which came in a 1-0 success at Swansea. Newcastle have only scored two goals more than Burnley have this season and they go into the weekend one place and one point above the Clarets. Newcastle have only netted three goals out on their travels in the top flight this season and it makes sense to consider both teams not to score at Bet Victor which fetches a price of 4/5 and should, therefore, be a decent option.

The 2014/15 Premier League season was the last time that Burnley and Newcastle went head to head and in that season, the two produced two draws on that occasion, so again the hint towards parity keeps raising its head. Newcastle have the leading options in the anytime goalscorer market with Mato Joselu the 7/4 favourite with Dwight Gayle at 8/5. No Newcastle player has managed more than one goal away from home this season. The form of the Magpies out on the road this season reads W1 D1 L2 and they played out a 2-2 draw with Southampton in their last away game. The Magpies have hit the back of the net in six of their last seven Premier League games now, but they will have their work cut out at Turf Moor in trying to break down the strong Clarets’ back line.

Burnley v Newcastle Betting Odds

Newcastle 6/4, Burnley 19/10, Draw 11/5

Burnley v Newcastle Predictions

Draw: This kind of has a draw written all over it. Burnley aren’t going to give up too much on home soil as they have shown this season, but they lack the goals to hurt sides themselves. Newcastle should be strong enough as they are carrying decent form, to collect a point on their travels.
