Burton to sink Rovers into more trouble

Burton v Blackburn Betting Preview – Championship 24th February 7.45pm

This should be an interesting Friday night affair in the Championship. Blackburn gave Manchester United a decent run for their money in their FA Cup tie last weekend, but ultimately slipped to defeat. They have to focus back on trying to stay in the Championship now and this is a massive game for them. They start the game six points behind Burton but they have two games in hand over them. Burton have improved drastically lately to move clear of the drop zone and if they take three points in his one, they could claw their way even further from safety and leave Rovers in a lot of pain.

Burton v Blackburn Betting Tips

This is a survival scrap down near the foot of the Championship table. Burton are just two places above the relegation zone in this one but they do have something of a healthy five point cushion as it stands. However, that’s not the entire picture because two of the four sides beneath them, including Blackburn, have played fewer games than Burton have. Rovers have two games in hand over Burton actually so there is still some pressure on. Burton put together a poor run of form between December and January which saw them go W1 L7, but they have responded better with a W3 D1 L2 record on the board in their last six played. So they have been showing some fight as highlighted in a recent home win against play-off challengers Norwich which was in their last home fixture in the Championship. A Burton 2-1 correct score at Bet365 is a price of 17/2 and that has been the scoreline in each of Burton’s last five wins in the league (home and away).

There was a 2-2 draw between these two back in August in the Championship and this one to go over 2.5 goals as well is a price of 13/10 at Bet365 and that is because just 38% of Burton’s home games this season have gone over the goal line. But then Burton are on a nine match league streak at home without a clean sheet so Blackburn will have some opportunities in this one you feel. Both teams to score at Bet365 is a price of 5/6. So there is still pressure on both Burton as well as Blackburn at the moment and Burton have a hit and miss home record of W7 D2 L7 in the Championship this season and they are the second lowest scoring side in the division. Cauley Woodrow and Michael Kightly have both scored in each of Burton’s last two home games and they are a price of 21/10 and 5/1 respectively in the Bet365 anytime goalscorer market. Burton have lost five of their last seven on home soil, and this is a test for them.

After putting up a good scrap in a 2-1 home loss against Lancashire rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup on the weekend, Blackburn have to focus back in on trying to survive the drop. Rovers have won just one of their last six and just two of their last thirteen (W2 D4 L7). Out on the road they haven’t won any of their last six games now (D2 L4) and both draws in that sequence were a 1-1 return which is a price of 5/1 in the Bet365 Correct Score market. They have been scoring because they have netted exactly one goal in all but one of their last eight games in the Championship, so there is reason to believe that they will make something of a breakthrough. Sam Gallagher is a 9/5 anytime goalscorer option for them. Blackburn have a pretty shocking record of just W2 D3 L10 away from home in the second tier this season and they have yet to be leading at half time in any game away from Ewood Park so far. So look for a half time draw to be on the board, but because of Burton’s less than stellar home form, expect this to be tight at the 90 minute mark too.

Burton v Blackburn Predictions

You would have to go with the improved form of Burton in this one and three points would be huge for them because of having played a couple more games than Rovers have already. Blackburn could only manage a draw at the hapless Rotherham recently out on the road and they aren’t likely to muster up enough to put a win on the board in this one. So you will have to just side with the home team coming up with maximum points and there is value in them in the match outright to do so.
