Cardiff City v Huddersfield Town Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 21st August 19.45pm

Cardiff City welcome Huddersfield Town to the Cardiff City Stadium for an EFL Championship encounter on Wednesday. This was a Premier League fixture last season, and both sides have struggled to adapt to life back in the Championship so far. The Bluebirds fell to an embarrassing defeat at Reading last time out, while Jan Siewert was sacked as Terriers boss after a 2-1 home reverse to Fulham. Former Cardiff captain Mark Hudson will take charge of Huddersfield for their trip to South Wales.

Cardiff City News and Form – Bluebirds to hit back in midweek?

Cardiff City have made a poor start to their season. The Bluebirds kicked off with a 3-2 loss to Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium. Despite Joe Ralls giving them a 20th-minute lead in Greater Manchester, goals from Michael Jacobs, Josh Windass and Lee Evans gave the Latics a deserved win.

The Welsh outfit struck back with an important home triumph over Luton Town in their second game. Aden Flint, who was making his home debut, gave Cardiff the lead shortly after half time. Matthew Pearson equalised for the Hatters with just a few minutes left, but debutant Isaac Vassell scored a 96th-minute winner in the Welsh capital.

Cardiff were buoyed by their late win over Luton, and they were the clear favourites at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday. However, the Bluebirds put in one of their worst performances under Neil Warnock, crashing to a heavy 3-0 defeat to a Reading side who lost their opening two games of the season.

Cardiff struggled at home in the Premier League last term, securing just six wins from 19 matches at the Cardiff City Stadium. However, they started their home campaign this term with a win over Luton, and City will be looking to make it back-to-back home victories on Wednesday.

Huddersfield Town News and Form – Will the Terriers improve under Hudson?

Jan Siewert’s miserable time at the John Smith’s Stadium came to an end on Friday night. Shortly after Huddersfield Town’s 2-1 home loss to Fulham, Siewert was relieved of his duties in West Yorkshire. During his time with the club, the Terriers picked up just one win.

Huddersfield had a year to forget in the Premier League last term, and the club have made a poor start to this season in the second tier. Town started with a 2-1 loss to Derby County at the John Smith’s Stadium. They then picked up a decent 1-1 away draw at Queens Park Rangers before losing 1-0 at home to EFL League One side Lincoln City in the League Cup.

Huddersfield had the worst home record in the top flight last season, while Fulham were the only club with a poorer record on the road. The Yorkshire side picked up just one away win all season, losing a staggering 14 of the other 18. However, they did hold Cardiff to a 0-0 draw in the Welsh capital back in January.

Huddersfield are on an alarming dip in form. The Terriers have sealed just one win in all competitions since beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Molineux back in November. Can Hudson guide Huddersfield to a positive result in Wales on Wednesday?

Cardiff City v Huddersfield Town Predictions

Cardiff City win: Bluebirds boss Warnock will be demanding a response from his players after Sunday’s shock loss at Reading. Cardiff were well off the boil in Berkshire, and they were lucky to escape with just a 3-0 scoreline. Huddersfield are also desperate for points, but the Welsh side should have the edge on home turf. Back the Bluebirds to win by one goal at 11/4. Also, put some money on the home team to be winning at half time and full time at 9/4.
