Carl Frampton v Andres Gutierrez Boxing Betting Odds & Preview

Frampton for KO win in Belfast

Sports Betting

There should be a good, entertaining boxing bout on the weekend as Carl Frampton steps back into the ring in Belfast. This won’t be the toughest fight that he has ever stepped into by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a little pressure on the fight as it is a WBC World Featherweight title eliminator. For Frampton, he will be looking for a little bit of redemption after losing his Featherweight title to Leo Santa Cruz back in January.

Frampton who is 1/25 odds on at Bet365 to win this, has stuck tremendous pressure on himself to perform in this one. He has pretty much said that if he loses then that will be it for his career. It’s not a fight that he should be losing at all against the Mexican opponent and for Frampton, this is a step towards getting back a shot at the title that he saw slip out of his hands in Las Vegas six month ago. That defeat against Santa Cruz didn’t see Frampton perform at his best so he knows that he has to dig deeper to prove to the rest of the division that he still has it. The Northern Ireland fighter meets Mexico’s Gutierrez at the SSE on home turf in Belfast on Saturday. Gutierrez is a massive underdog at 10/1 with Coral to win the bout.

Frampton’s defeat to Santa Cruz in January was a rematch after the Irishman had beaten him in the first scrap. So that will have been even more disappointing for the Northern Ireland boxer. That was also the first professional defeat that Frampton has suffered in his career which means that he heads to Belfast on the weekend with a W23 L1 record. He has faced Mexican opposition before as he took a Unanimous Decision over Alejandro Gonzalez Jr in 2015 in a Belfast victory over Hugo Cazares by a knockout in 2014. That was his last fight in Belfast and he is looking forward to getting back home.

His opponent Andres Gutierrez is ranked 8th by the WBC and it is a big step in the level of opposition for him. He really hasn’t fought anyone of note before in his career. The 24-year-old Mexican has a W35 D1 L1 professional fight record, with 25 of those victories coming by a knockout. He suffered a defeat recently against Cristian Mijares by a Majority Decision but he did bounce back to take a win over Wallington Orobio as a warm up for this one.

Frampton should win this one as Gutierrez is nowhere near his level at all. Frampton will want to produce a really strong performance in this one to send a message to the rest of the division. Frampton to win by a KO TKO or Disqualification is trading at 11/8 at Coral for the fight. He will want to come out blazing and not go the distance as you would have to look under 8/5 rounds at 9/4 with Coral.
