Champions Day Sha Tin Racing Odds and Tips – Beauty bidding to become one in a generation

Prawn looks tasty in Chairman's Sprint Prize

Horse Racing Betting

There is a feast of top-class racing at Sha Tin in Hong Kong this Sunday.

Champions Day features three Group 1 races and, even though the overseas stars will be absent this year, there is a local legend poised to try and rewrite the history books by winning the FWD Champions Mile for a third year running.
Hong Kong Racing Betting at Unibet
The right-handed Sha Tin Turf course, situated in the New Territories, is just under a 1m2f in circumference with a slight uphill gradient in the home straight.
It’s a galloping course by the standards of the region and a fair test.

Champions Mile Conclusion

Zac Purton and Joao ‘Magic Man’ Moreira are the two top riders at Sha Tin and they have the best mounts in the Champions Mile.
Purton has the reins on BEAUTY GENERATION and the seven-year-old is only a best 5/6 to complete the hat-trick in the race.
He was beaten a neck by Waikuku (11/4 with Unibet) in the Steward’s Cup in January but took his revenge in the Chairman’s Trophy earlier this month and has beaten Ya King Star (a best 6/1) in his last two.
If there is an each-way alternative, it could be More Than This (10/1 with Betfred) who is upped in class but should be suited by the likely strong pace as he stays further.

Chairman’s Sprint Prize Current Best Odds

Hot King Prawn 7/4
Aetherom 2/1
Thanks Forever 6/1
Voyage Warrior 7/1
Mr Stunning 16/1
D B Pin, Full Of Beauty, Wishful Thinker, Big Party and Big Time Baby 33/1
Jolly Banner 100/1

Chairman’s Sprint Prize Conclusion

Most of the leading contenders in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize met in the Sprint Cup at Sha Tin three weeks ago.
Voyage Warrior made virtually all the running and came out on top – Ricky Yiu’s front-runner is a general 7/1 to follow up but is poorly drawn in stall 10.
Sprint Cup runner-up HOT KONG PRAWN has fared much better with the inside berth and can be backed at 7/4 with Betfred.
The three-year-old Aethero was odds-on for the Sprint Cup but never gave himself a chance of justifying that market support. He missed the break and then pulled much too hard before weakening into last spot. That was a second poor effort in a row so there is something to prove now at the general 2/1.
Mr Stunning might offer some each-way value at 16/1 with Paddy Power.

FWD Queen Elizabeth II Cup Current Best Odds

Exultant 1/2
Time Warp 7/2
Furore 5/1
Playa Del Puente 25/1
Eagle Way 33/1
Elusive State and Glorious Dragon 50/1
(Odds correct on April 24, 2020 at 12:50 BST)
Tony Cruz is in pole position to win the Sha Tin trainers’ title this season and holds all the aces in the QE II Cup.
He saddles the first three in the betting in the 1m2f contest with last year’s runner-up EXULTANT a very short-priced favourite (1/2 with Betfred).
Though surprisingly beaten by stable companion Time Warp (9/2 with Ladbrokes) in the Hong Kong Gold Cup in February, Zac Purton didn’t exactly cover himself in glory that day. The favourite should reverse that form with Joao Moreira’s mount if ridden closer to the pace.
