Champions League Odds Update: The draw for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League was made on Thursday.

So the four Premier League teams entered now all know what lies ahead for them in the group stage.

Of them, it looks as if Manchester United have been handed the toughest task of all.

Champions League Odds – Outright Winner

Now the dust has settled on the draw, it is time to look at a Champions League odds update to see what reaction the Outright Winner market has taken on.

Excitingly as well, with Juventus and Barcelona being drawn in the same group, fans will await some mouth-watering Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi group stage duels.

Right at the top of the Champions League Outright Winner Market is of course, where the big focus is.

Manchester City and reigning champions Bayern Munich who are currently positioned as the joint 4/1 favourites* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020).

2020/21 Champions League Odds

Barcelona 12/1

Group A: Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Salzburg, Lokomotiv Moscow

Naturally Bayern Munich, the reigning champions are the odds-on favourites to win this group.

Their biggest challenger to that goal will be Atletico Madrid.

This will be the third time that the two clubs have met in the Championships League.

The first of those produced an away-goals win for Atletico in the 2016 semi-finals.

The two met the following season in the group stage and traded 1-0 home wins.

It would be some upset if Salzburg or Lokomotiv Moscow managed to get through at the expense of one of those two.

We don’t see it happening.

Bayern Munich 2/4, Atletico Madrid 11/4, Salzburg 9/1, Lokomotiv Moscow 33/1

Group B: Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan, Borussia Monchengladbach

This is an interesting group.

How ready for bigger things in the Champions League are Inter Milan, who have become a much better outfit under Antonio Conte?

This is going to be fascinating to see if they can defy their 5/2 odds to win Group B and beat Real Madrid to the punch.

The only time the two have met in the Champions League was in 1998 when the two of them traded two-goal margin home wins in the group stage.

After a very good Bundesliga campaign last season, Borussia Monchengladbach may cause a problem or two on home turf.

Shakhtar finished in third place behind Man City and Atalanta in last season’s group stage action.

Real Madrid 4/7, Inter Milan 5/2, Borussia Monchengladbach 7/1, Shakhtar Donetsk 14/1

MAN CITY
4/1

Bet365

Group C: Porto, Manchester City, Olympiakos, Marseille

With Manchester City one of the front runners for the title again, they are the obvious pick for Group C success in the Champions League.

They have been handed a fairly nice section here as well.

It is most likely that Porto, who didn’t even make it to last season’s group stage, will be the closest challengers.

Man City’s only previous meeting with Porto was in the 2012 Europa League, the Citizens winning both games.

So it may be worth having a look at it being the much-improved Marseille who follows the Citizens through to the next round instead.

There may not be too much to choose between them and Porto.

From two previous Champions League group stage meetings in 2003 and 2007, Porto are W3 D1 in the head to head against the French team.

Man City 1/4, Porto 5/1, Marseille 10/1, Olympiakos 16/1
* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020)

Group D: Liverpool, Ajax, Atalanta, Midtjylland

Liverpool are the front-runners for group stage success. But they are going to have to be on their game because they will face a couple of tricky fixtures.

Their battles with Atalanta who impressed so much on their debut last season, should make for some engrossing viewing.

We’d have to put the stock on Liverpool winning the section.

So that leaves a battle between Ajax and Atalanta for second and third at the end of the day behind the Reds.

Liverpool 4/7, Atalanta 3/1, Ajax 4/1, Midtjylland 33/1

Group E: Sevilla, Chelsea, FK Krasnodar, Rennes

Chelsea do not have an easy path to winning Group E in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The Blues are sitting at 13/10 to do so*in Champions League odds (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020).

That is because they will face reigning Europa League champions, Sevilla, in this section.

Regardless of which way around it is, Chelsea and Sevilla should occupy the top-two spots.

Sevilla knocked out both Manchester United and Wolves in last season’s successful Europa League campaign.

Making up the numbers in the group are the debutants Rennes from France and Russia’s Krasnodar.

Actually, the presence of Rennes does make the group quite a bit more interesting.

After taking a wonderful third-place finish in last season’s French top-flight they have hit the ground running in the new campaign as well.

They could pose a threat or two on home turf.

Chelsea 13/10, Sevilla 6/4, Rennes 7/2, Krasnodar 16/1

Group F: Zenit St Petersburg, Borussia Dortmund, Lazio, Bruges

Zenit finished bottom of their group in the last campaign, missing out on a Europa League place. That section continued RB Leipzig, Lyon and Benfica.

This one may be a little bit tougher this go around.

Borussia Dortmund are the favourites to claim the group win from a 5/6 quote in Champions League betting odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020).

The main threat to them should rightly be Lazio.

Considering that we would agree with the bookmakers that Club Brugge are the rank outsiders here, we see Dortmund and Lazio cruising through.

It is not a group which immediately houses potential upsets.

Borussia Dortmund 5/6, Lazio 9/4, Zenit St Petersburg 9/2, Club Brugge 16/1

Group G: Juventus, Barcelona, Dynamo Kyiv, Ferencvaros

Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi. That’s going to be the highlight of Group G when the two meetings between Juventus and Barcelona happen.

There is very little chance that any other outcome aside from those two occupying the qualifying spots will happen.

So that just leaves Kiev and Ferencvaros basically scrapping it out between themselves for a place in the Europa League, right from the get-go.

So what about the group winner?

Bookies have Barcelona as the 10/11 favourites for that, but given their recent struggles punters may well look at Juve.

This is the first meeting between the two since their 2017/18 Group stage pairing, in which Barca collected four points.

Overall in the previous Champions League matches, things are even with two wins each and three draws.

Barcelona 10/11, Juventus 19/20, Dynamo Kiev 16/1, Ferencvaros 33/1

Group H: Paris St-Germain, Manchester United, RB Leipzig, Istanbul Basaksehir

Manchester United are not favourites to win Group H.

They are coming in currently at a 9/4 odds-against quote behind PSG* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020).

PSG had that run to last season’s final where they were undone by Bayern Munich, but that raised their Champions League stock massively.

It is a 4/6 quote that PSG are at in Champions League odds to win Group G* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 04:35 GMT on Friday, October 2nd 2020).

The one previous clash in the Champions League between Manchester United and PSG happened last year.

Manchester United defied some massive odds in Paris, claiming a 3-1 second-leg win, overturning a 2-0 loss from the first leg at Old Trafford.

But the presence of strong Bundesliga side RB Leipzig is exciting.

That poses another issue for Manchester United, as it’s likely those two will be fighting it out between them for the other place in the round of sixteen.

PSG 4/5, Man Utd 9/4, RB Leipzig 11/2, Istanbul Baseksehir 20/1
