Charlton Athletic v Leeds United Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 28th September 15.00pm

Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic and Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United go head-to-head at The Valley in a tasty EFL Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon. The Addicks will be hoping to bounce back after falling to back-to-back defeats. Meanwhile, three points for Leeds will keep them at the top of the division. United have been excellent on their travels this season, and the Championship table-toppers head to London as the 9/20 favourites.

Charlton Athletic News and Form – Can the Addicks get back on track?

Charlton Athletic were promoted from EFL League One via the play-off route last term. The Addicks then made a stunning start to life back in the second tier, winning four and drawing two to sit second after six games.

Unfortunately for the London outfit, Charlton have since fallen to back-to-back league losses. Athletic were beaten for the first time in the league this season by Birmingham City in their last match at The Valley, losing 1-0 to Pep Clotet’s men.

Charlton followed that up with a loss to Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic last time out. Bowyer’s boys were second best at the DW Stadium, with a brace from Latics defender Cheyenne Dunkley giving the home team a deserved 2-0 win.

Since taking over the managerial reins, Bowyer has done a fine job at The Valley. The 42-year-old will be hoping that Charlton’s poor run of form is just a minor blip, as the Addicks could be dark horses in the promotion picture this season. Can they get back on track with a home win against the title favourites on Saturday?

Leeds United News and Form – League leaders to prevail on the road again?

Leeds United are joint top of the Championship table with Steve Cooper’s Swansea City. The Whites and the Swans have both won five, drawn two and lost one of their opening eight league fixtures. However, Leeds have a slightly better goal difference, scoring 13 and shipping four.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men will be looking to return to winning ways after dropping points against Derby County last time out. An own goal had given United a 1-0 lead, but Chris Martin’s late, late strike earned the Rams a point at Elland Road.

Nevertheless, Leeds have looked very strong so far this season. The Yorkshire side, who are the Championship title favourites, have picked up wins against Bristol City, Wigan, Brentford, Stoke City and Barnsley. Will they add Charlton to that list at the weekend?

Leeds have not put a foot wrong away from home up until now, winning each of their five away league and cup matches. Meanwhile, they have shipped just one goal during that time, winning the last four without conceding.

Having slipped up against Derby in their last one, Leeds will be hoping to strike back with a big three points at The Valley on Saturday. At the time of writing, the Yorkshiremen are available at just 9/20 to leave the English capital with a win.

Charlton Athletic v Leeds United Predictions

Leeds United win: Bielsa’s boys have looked the real deal away from home so far this term. As I touched on, United have been untouchable on the road, picking up 12 points from a possible 12, scoring ten and conceding one along the way. Leeds should make it 15 out of 15 on Saturday, so have a punt on the Whites to win to nil on their travels for a fifth time in a row, which you can get at 6/4.

Leeds have opened the scoring in all five of their away league and cup matches so far. Meanwhile, they have scored the opening goal in all bar one of their Championship games to this point. The away side are available at 1/3 to score first at The Valley.
