Chelmsford 17:20: Boylesports offer 6/1 odds on Wait Forever – 12th December 2019

Excellent Class 2 line up at Chelmsford

Horse Racing Betting

There is an excellent Class 2 run coming up on Thursday at Chelmsford which we are going to pull into focus for today’s racing. This is a 1-mile blast with 8 starters. The market is lining up as a two-horse race between the perceived threats of Fox Power and The Gill Brothers. But Wait Forever, at a much more handsome price piques some interest.

Fox Power the favourite

Irish 3-year-old Fox Power will be looking to follow up on a win that he recorded last time out. That came at a 7/1 price over a 1-mile distance back in April at Newcastle. With that comfortable ride under his belt, he will be looking to come back refreshed and renewed to launch an attack in this one. He is a horse with very good form having placed in each of his last four outings.

Can The Gill Brothers challenge?

There will be plenty of interest in The Gill Brothers, who is highly favourable in the handicap. On his last outing, he was beaten into third over courses and distances. But with wins under his belt at Chelmsford and Kempton this season, he is definitely on the rise and one to watch out for. He’s done the business before at a distance, which isn’t going to phase him.

Wait Forever good enough to handle top weight

The highest-rated runner in the field for this Class 2 event is Wait Forever who will have to defy top weight to earn his success. But this is a good horse who has, throughout this career, claimed five race wins between 7f and 1m 1f. So this is a good distance for him. He only came home fourth at Lingfield at the 1m distance last month, but he never really got himself a clean run because of traffic.

Firmament and Silent Attack have both won over Course and Distance before. Firmament delivered a good second place at York back in October in a 15-horse field. Silent Attack was out at Chelmsford in his last run, which was at 7f. He was the second there at a good 10/1 price which was a very good showing from the six-year-old. He never looked at any point as if he was going to kick on for the win, however.

Another course and distance winner is six-year-old Samphire Coast who claimed a course and distance win in November, in his most recent outing. Weight is definitely on his side in this one but will be facing a bit of a higher class of opposition. Librisa Breeze is a distance winner but has not claimed a win anywhere in two years. Failed to show anything at Kempton over a mile last month.
