Chelmsford 18:30: Bet365 offer 9/4 racing odds on Grandee Daise – 13th February 2020

Horse Racing Betting

This is a Classified Stakes fixture on the card for the evening racing from Chelmsford City on Thursday. There are 11 runners for the field, so it’s a big competitive one. This is a simple, straightforward 1m blast for the entrants, which is a class 6 run. There has been little doubt about the favourite in the racing betting.

Grandee Daisy heading the betting

There was a win for Grandee Daisy on her last run and that was over course and distance earlier this month. So that is a note to consider for this run. She had been a massive 33/1 winner in that race as well where she beat Cristal Pallas Cat by half a length.

There hadn’t really been any signs from the four-year-old that had been coming, however, but the Micahel Appleby trained charge is now under the spotlight and on the back of her C&D success is at 9/4* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 12th, 2020 at 23:40). She notably held off both Roca Magica and Nicky Baby in that contest.

Hunters Step in good form

Hunters Step won a handicap at Newcastle in mid-January and then back at the same track ran well against to take a third-place finish in another in early February. So he has been doing well since he was seven year old and has won a 1m contest on the all-weather.

Hunters Step has been showing enough to look like a serious contender for this race and that has been recognised at 5/1 odds* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 12th, 2020 at 23:40)

Voice of A Leader

The Chelsea Bahnham-trained Voice of A Leader showed some good form at Wolverhampton at 1m 1f on his last trip. He took second place from 9/4 in the contest just last month. In his career, the 9-year-old has won three times at 7f to 1m 2f and two of those wins happened on the all-weather.

Given his place finish last time out, and showing a good step, he should be competitive at 11/2* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 12th, 2020 at 23:40)

Can Kodi Koh pick up form?

Kodi Koh was a beaten joint-favourite last time out. That was in a run at Newcastle which was won by Hunters Step. Kodi Koh was well beaten in that by three and a quarter lengths at class 7. He is a fairly consistent runner and is generally there or thereabouts in terms of securing a place finish.

But he certainly looks as if he has something else to find to get in the winner’s circle after disappointing punters last time out. He returns as 9/2 quote for this race* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 12th, 2020 at 23:40)

Notable other contenders

Nicky Baby was a third-place finisher behind Grandee Daisy on his last trip over course and distance. He never looked like getting the win, but with that aside he is a previous C & D winner having landed a victory in April last year. He hasn’t won since.

Roca Magica took a place finish in a Wolverhampton handicap which was just after claiming a course and distance win at Chelmsford on January 9th. He was heavily beaten though on his latest trip, coming home 11th of 15 on this track.

Predictions & Tips

Was Grandee Daisy’s performance at course and distance a one-off? That is going to be the big question which is going to be answered on Thursday evening. She had Nicky Baby and Roca Magica behind her.

Hunters Step just looks as if he is the more consistent and reliable of the front runners here and will get the nod.

He certainly looks to be the one that is going to throw down the biggest challenge to the favourite and is a much more appealing quote of 5/1* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 12th, 2020 at 23:40).
