Chelmsford 19:15 Racing Odds and Tips June 9 – Battle looks up for the fight at 16/1 with Paddy Power

Marathon striving to Battle to another victory

Horse Racing Betting

There are some very competitive handicaps on the final day of Haydock’s three-day meeting this Tuesday but it is just possible that the day’s best race is at Chelmsford.

Nine runners are due to face the starter in the Chatham Green Handicap, run over 1m6f on Polytrack, and several look to have decent claims so there is probably some value to be had among online bookmakers.
Ryan Moore is a jockey to follow when turning up in Essex.

Collide hoping to return to British racing with a bang

Ryan Moore takes the ride on Hugo Palmer’s Collide, the winner of a Listed race in France on his latest start.
The top weight is a general 4/1 but well worth a second look back in a handicap and on the all-weather on which he was a winner early last year.
The big doubt is stamina as he flopped on is only previous try beyond 1m4f.

Switch from Tapeta could catch out big improver

Clap Your Hands has won at Chelmsford but his big improvement has come at Wolverhampton, which has a different all-weather surface.
Only a best 7/2 with Bet365, that isn’t tempting enough for a bet on David Simcock’s four-year-old in a race like this and stable companion Kitabaat was a beaten favourite in lesser company over course and distance last year when carrying 2lb less.

Pianissimo needs to hit the right notes

Pianissimo was raised 6lb after running out a surprise winner at Chelmsford in December and couldn’t cope at Kempton. A further 2lb is hardly going to boost his cause and he is best watched at 17/2 with Betvictor, though there is no denying his consistency.

Land Of Oz holds few secrets from the handicapper

After winning six times last year, Land Of Oz (4/1 with Paddy Power) ran in the valuable Cesarewitch at Newmarket on his final start but finished tailed off.
That confirmed the impression that the handicapper had finally got his measure and another 2lb rise makes a victory here at a best 7/2 unlikely over a trip that is probably the absolute minimum.

Race-fit Cosmelli proving a good servant

Cosmelli keeps plugging away and is effective between 1m4f and 2m.
He had a run at Newcastle at the start of the month and that should have blown away any cobwebs. His last victory came at Chelmsford so the 12/1 with Bet365 could be interesting for each-way purposes.

Marathon has now got to grips with longer distances

Previously thought best over distances between 1m and 1m2f, Battle of Marathon has proved himself over further in recent seasons.
He’s now an eight-year-old but his enthusiasm remains and he’s already won three times since the turn of the year.
Successful over 1m6f at Musselburgh last season, John Ryan’s veteran (16/1 with Paddy Power) could put younger rivals to the sword here with Darragh Keenan’s 3lb a plus.

Chatham Green Handicap Predictions

Too doughty battle-hardened campaigners could fight out the finish of this staying handicap.
BATTLE OF MARATHON and Cosmelli have been been around the block a few times but they know where the finishing post is.
Collide has the class to go well under his big weight and Kitabaat may prove the pick of David Simcock’s two runners.
