After going three games without a win in League Two (losing two, drawing one), Town returned to winning ways at the weekend, beating Macclesfield Town 1-0 at Blundell Park. Grimsby will be hoping to be dark horses in the race for promotion from the fourth tier this season.
The Mariners beat EFL League One side Doncaster Rovers in the first round of this term’s EFL Cup back in mid-August, with Jordan Cook scoring the only goal of the game. Grimsby then beat Macclesfield 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
Grimsby will no doubt enjoy the occasion at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
