Reds can keep perfect season going

Chelsea v Liverpool Betting Tips – Premier League, 22nd September 4.30pm

League leaders Liverpool will be defending their 100% Premier League record this season when they go to Stamford Bridge on Sunday. This is a huge clash and a big test for Liverpool. They beat Chelsea on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup earlier this season, unable to shake off the Blues.

So Liverpool will know that they aren’t going to get an easy road game down in the capital. Chelsea have hit a bit of form, but there are still major question marks over their defence. Read our predictions for Chelsea v Liverpool.

Chelsea News and Form – Can Blues inflict a defeat on Liverpool?

The Blues suffered a home loss against Valencia in midweek in their Champions League opener. It was a slack bit of defending that ended up costing them as well. That has been a theme of their season so far. Chelsea have shipped a lot of goals already and Norwich are the only team in the top flight to have conceded more goals than the Blues have.

Chelsea have conceded at least two goals in four of their five league games this season, with no clean sheet so far. Last weekend the Blues took a great 5-2 win out at Wolves. In total Chelsea have netted 10 goals in their last three EPL fixtures and Tammy Abraham has netted seven of those ten.

Abraham got a hat-trick against Wolves last weekend. All but one of Chelsea’s five league games have gone over 3.5 goals this season. And with Liverpool coming, there will probably be goals in this. As a positive Chelsea do have an eleven match unbeaten streak of home form currently going in the league.

Chelsea have scored at least two goals in five of their last six at the Bridge. They do have an injury concern over their in-form midfielder Mason Mount. He picked up a knock in a poor challenge against him in Champions League action. The Blues have scored 73% of their league goals this season in the first half of games while conceding 73% in the second half.

Chelsea v Liverpool Head to Head

Key-Facts – Chelsea v Liverpool

  • The Blues have the second worst defensive record in the top flight
  • Liverpool are on a 14 match EPL winning streak
  • The Reds have scored at least 2 goals in each of their last 14 EPL games

Liverpool News and Form

Liverpool also lost their Champions League fixture in midweek. They went down 2-0 in Italy against Napoli. But they have had no problems in the Premier League this season winning their first five games. Last weekend they fell behind against Newcastle but responded easily to take a 3-1 win.

Liverpool haven’t quite been at the races defensively, but then they set the bar so high last season, it was going to be a tough act to follow. It has been just the one clean sheet that they have recorded in the Premier League this season. Defensive errors cost them against Napoli. One of them by Virgil van Dijk.

The thing about Liverpool, of course, is that they have such a dynamic attack, the odd lapse in defence is going to be covered up relatively easily. Especially in the Premier League. Liverpool have scored at least three goals in four of their five league games this season. They have scored at least 2 goals in each of their last fourteen Premier League games now.

The Reds are also on a 14 match EPL winning streak. It is some fantastic numbers that they are putting up. Another of Liverpool’s trends is that they have been winning at both half time and full time in their last 8 matches. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are the joint top scorers for them in the league this season with four goals each.

Chelsea v Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool to win: You aren’t going to see Liverpool at generous even money odds many times this season. So we would snap that up. Their attack surely will create enough chances against a really weak Chelsea defence to collect three points. Away win.
