This is the headline act of the FA Cup fifth round, and we have to wait all the way till Monday night for it. Both sides played in Europe during midweek. Much has been made of Chelsea’s inconsistent form, especially after they were beaten heavily by Manchester City 6-0 in their last Premier League fixture. But most of their issues have been away from home.
Chelsea are currently on a five-match winning streak at Stamford Bridge and are unbeaten in six there. They have also produced at least two goals in each of their last five home fixtures across all competitions. Chelsea have looked shaky at times but the Blues have still taken four clean sheets in their last six home games. Will they be able to raise their game at home for this tough challenge though?
Chelsea have only suffered one defeat at Stamford Bridge in all competitions this season, which was a Premier League loss against Leicester just before Christmas. So far in this FA Cup season, Chelsea have had back-to-back home games against Championship opposition. They beat Nottingham Forest and then Sheffield Wednesday with clean sheet victories. Chelsea have had a good Cup season already having reached the final of the EFL cup.

The Red Devils will be making their second trip to Stamford Bridge this season, having played out a 2-2 draw in the Premier League back in August. Chelsea and Manchester United went up against each other in last season’s FA Cup final, the blues winning thanks to a spot-kick from Eden Hazard. Over the last five meetings in all competitions, things are even with two wins each and one draw.
The Red Devils lost against PSG at home in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, their first defeat under the interim management of Ole Gunner Solksjaer. They did pick up a couple of injuries in the game to speedy attacking players Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard. The Red Devils have a great streak away form going as they are on a six-match winning streak of form on their travels. Throughout most of the early part of the season, they were struggling badly to earn a clean sheet away from home.
That has changed lately though because they have now earned four clean sheets in their last five away fixtures. In the last round, they had a huge away game at Arsenal, and the Red Devils put on a fantastic performance to take a 3-1 victory. That was after Manchester United had opened their FA Cup campaign this season at home with a 2-0 victory over Championship side Reading. Now that their Champions League campaign looks in jeopardy, and with no shot at the Premier League title, this is their only chance at landing silverware this season.
