Chelsea v Nottingham Forest Betting Preview – EFL Cup 20th September 7.45pm

The Blues have a comfortable looking fixture at Stamford Bridge in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night. They were frustrated by Arsenal there on the weekend in the Premier League, but they may find the going a little easier against the Tricky Trees. Forest have been struggling for form lately having lost three of their last four games in the Championship. Will they be able to mount any kind of challenge even against what is likely to be a much-changed Chelsea side?

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest EFL Cup Betting Tips

The Blues couldn’t get the better of their London rivals Arsenal in the Premier league on the weekend at Stamford Bridge, the two playing out a 0-0 draw. There is a possibility, of course, that the Blues will take out their frustrations on Nottingham Forest in this cup tie. The last time that Chelsea met Forest was in the FA Cup back in 2007 and Chelsea romped to a 3-0 win. Chelsea are on a four match winning streak against Nottingham Forest in all competitions and haven’t conceded in their last two against them. Bearing that in mind, Chelsea to win to nil at William Hill is a nice price of 4/7 and the Blues will be expected to be pretty comfortable in this one. Michy Batshuayi is a 4/5 anytime goalscorer option because he will probably get the start over Alvaro Morata. Antonio Conte probably won’t send out his strongest starting eleven for the game. Chelsea have gone W4 D1 L1 this season in all competitions and are unbeaten in five.

Championship side Nottingham Forest have produced a W2 D1 L3 record in their last six and those three defeats have been in their last four games. So they are hit and miss at the best of times and are lacking the ability to sustain any consistency. In the last round, they did get a win on the board over a Premier league side though as they landed a 3-2 victory at St James Park over Newcastle after extra time. This is a step up in the level of opposition for them though. Forest have just the one clean sheet in their last six games played and so they will probably struggle to contain the Blues and they aren’t a powerhouse going forward, so both teams not to score at William Hill fetches a price of 4/6 while the game going under 2.5 goals brings home a price of 15/8. Daryl Murphy is their shortest priced option in the anytime goalscorer market for a price of 9/2. Forest have won just one of their last eight fixtures against Chelsea and their last two visits to the Bridge have ended with a loss to nil for them.

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest EFL Cup Predictions

Chelsea to win: There is little hint of an upset happening in this one, even though Chelsea won’t be at full strength. Forest can’t have a lot of interest in this fixture and a coast for Chelsea should occur. Chelsea 2-0 looks value in the correct score market.
