Chelsea are obviously not going to be a pushover on home soil in this one. Each of their last three home wins over Forest have been in Cup competitions. Their most recent meeting ended in a 5-1 victory for the Blues at Stamford Bridge in the 2017 FA Cup. That’s actually a total of ten goals scored and one conceded in their last three at home against Forest. In all competitions, Chelsea are currently on a five-match winning streak against the Tricky Trees. So there may not be too much hint of an upset. Chelsea have been pretty strong on home soil this season in all competitions, with only the odd glitch here and there. The reigning FA Cup holders will be expected to progress. They have racked up the home clean sheets as well and in looking at Forest this is where the tie could get interesting.
Championship side Forest are not particularly in great form. They have won only one of their last six games played, but that was a great win over Championship leaders Leeds on New Years’ Day. Forest have failed to score in four of their last six games played. But they had a crazy 5-5 draw against Aston Villa at the end of November, a 3-3 against Norwich and then that four-goal haul against Leeds. So they have the potential to bust out big score lines. It just hasn’t happened often enough to improve their current form. Away from home they are winless in four and are just W1 D4 L2 in their last seven road games. They have scored at least two goals in four of their last six on the road. You basically just don’t know what you are going to get from Forest at the moment. Last season they pulled off a shock as they beat Arsenal in the third round at home.

Chelsea to win: Forest blow hot and cold but Chelsea should be savvy enough to keep their Championship opposition at arm’s length really.
