Chelsea News and Form – Will Chelsea make it back-to-back league wins?

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is off the mark with his first EPL win with the club. The Blues secured a 3-2 win last weekend at Norwich. It was a tremendously wide-open game but Chelsea had some very strong periods of attacking intensity in it. They seem to be getting it together as an attacking unit, not so much at the back. They were poor defensively again, and it’s seven goals that they have shipped in their three games. It’s what to expect from them this season, it seems.

Tammy Abraham got a brace against the Canaries last weekend. That moves him level as club top scorer with Mason Mount. The impressive Mount though was injured in the game and had to go off, so he’s a doubt for this weekend’s action. Pedro is in the same boat as well as Mount. Chelsea only managed a 1-1 draw against Leicester in their previous home game this season, the Blues striking early but falling away in the second half of the fixture.

Chelse had also started brightly in their season opener against Man Utd but collapsed in the second half. As a betting angle into this game, there does seem to be the potential of goals from both sides here and it may be worth backing the Blues to get something early. 50% of Chelsea’s goals this season have come in the first fifteen minutes of matches. It is a ten-match undefeated streak of home form that Chelsea are currently on in the Premier League.

Sheffield United News and Form – Can the Blades raid Stamford Bridge?

It has been a very good effort from Sheffield United following their promotion from the Championship last season. They have four points on the board, just like Saturday’s opponents, Chelsea. It was a 1-1 draw which the Blades took at Bournemouth in their opening game for the season. Things got better for them as they beat Crystal Palace in their first home game. They then took a 2-1 hit against Leicester last weekend though.

So now comes their first test of resilience. Can they snap back from defeat immediately? Summer signing Ollie McBurnie came off the bench to get their equalising goal against Leicester last weekend. So he is probably going to be pushing for a start. To be fair, the Blades were only beaten by a special effort from Leicester’s Harvey Barnes last weekend. A positive is that the Blades have scored in each of their EPL games so far and they are facing a disjointed Chelsea back line.
