Chelsea News and Form

Chelsea are not out of this having put in a pretty good performance at Wembley in the first leg of this semi-final tie against Tottenham. The only goal of the game came from the penalty scored by Tottenham’s Harry Kane. But Chelsea had more than enough good chances to get the win, or at least a draw, out of that fixture. But they played badly on the weekend in a league game against Arsenal, Chelsea suffering a defeat. That in turn led to boss Maurizio Sarri complaining that it was hard to get his players motivated. Chelsea are W4 D1 L3 in their last eight fixtures across all competitions. But their home form has been pretty strong and solid because they have lost only once on home soil this season across all competitions. Chelsea have won six of their last eight games played at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have also picked up a clean sheet in seven of their last nine home games.

Key-Facts – Chelsea v Tottenham

  • Chelsea have suffered only one defeat at home this season in all competitions
  • Chelsea have conceded in just two of their last nine home fixtures
  • Tottenham have won each of their last five away games

Tottenham News and Form

Tottenham left it very late on the weekend to produce a win over struggling Fulham in the Premier League. That was their first game in having to cope without the injured Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min who has gone off to the Asian games with South Korea. They had to take Dele Alli off with a hamstring problem against Fulham too. Tottenham have collected a win in all but one of their last five games across all competitions, including the 1-0 home win over Chelsea in the first leg of this semi-final contest. During that sequence of five games, Spurs have taken four clean sheets, conceding just one goal. How will they set themselves up at Stamford Bridge without a couple of their key attacking players? Do they just try and shut up shop and defend their way to Wembley for the final? Spurs are currently on a five-match winning streak away from home in all competitions, having scored at least two goals in seven of their last eight away fixtures.
