Chelsea News and Form

The Blues will head into League action this weekend after back-to-back League victories over Spurs and then Fulham last weekend. That is three wins in their last four League games that they have played now. Chelsea have good home form running in the Premier League at the moment, as they are on a three-match winning streak at Stamford Bridge. This season the Blues have posted a pretty solid W9 D4 L1 record on home soil in the top flight.

Chelsea are unbeaten in four now on home soil since their lone home defeat against Leicester back just before Christmas. Chelsea have averaged exactly 2 goals at home game this season, and in their 14 home fixtures, they have conceded just the nine goals. That has equated to a clean sheet in 50% of their home League fixtures.

Less than half of their games at Stamford Bridge in the EPL have made it over the 2.5 goals line. Chelsea have only conceded two goals in total in their last eight home fixtures. However, in their last seven home and away combined, Chelsea have taken just the two clean sheets.

Chelsea have not been losing at the halftime break in any of their home games this season. In each of their last three at the Bridge, they have scored at least two goals in each. Five of their last seven games home and away, have ended up going over 2.5 goals. Of their nine home wins this season, five of them have been by a two-goal margin. Chelsea have the joint third-best defensive record in the entire Premier League.

Chelsea v Wolves Head to Head

Wolves pulled off a 2-1 home success over Chelsea earlier this season
The Blues had won four in a row over Wolves prior to that
Chelsea have won all four previous EPL home games against Wolves
Both teams have scored in just two of the last nine meetings

Key-Facts – Chelsea v Wolves

  • Chelsea have won their last three Premier League home games
  • The Blues have lost just once at home this season
  • Wolves have lost just one away game against the current top six

Wolves News and Form

Wolves picked up three points from a 2-0 win at home against Cardiff last weekend. They had been on a three-match winless streak of form prior to that (the two hour one). That leaves Wolves with a record of W5 D4 L5 this season on their top-flight travels and from their six away games played against current top half of the table sides, Wolves have lost just one.

The lone defeat in those such games was at Manchester City with Wolves playing a large part of the game with 10 men. Wolves have earned a draw at both Manchester United and Arsenal this season. They picked up three points away at Spurs too. So they have shown up in their big away games.

So that means that they could give Chelsea a challenge in this one on the weekend. Wolves have averaged just over a goal per game away from home this season, with 36% of their away games going over 2.5 goals only. Wolves have not been prolific in picking up a clean sheet on their travels, collecting just the two this season.

There has not been an away clean sheet for Wolves in any of their last 10. 67% of their away goals this season have been scored in the second half of fixtures. To their a huge credit, Chelsea are only one of four sides in the division to hold a better defensive record than Wolves.

Chelsea v Wolves Predictions

Chelsea to win: This could well be a good competitive match and the Blues will get a test from the visiting Wolves. However, we have to back the home win but it is worth backing both teams to get on the scoresheet as well.
