Chelsea vs Ajax Betting Tips – UEFA Champions League, 5th November 20.00pm

Chelsea will be looking for a third successive UEFA Champions League win when they welcome last season’s semi-finalists Ajax to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Frank Lampard’s Blues lead the way in Group H, ahead of Ajax only on the head-to-head record. The Premier League outfit won 1-0 in Amsterdam two weeks ago, and they will take a giant leap towards the knockout rounds with another victory over the Dutch team in midweek.

Chelsea News and Form – Blues’ fantastic form to continue?

After an indifferent start to life in the Stamford Bridge dugout, Frank Lampard is settling in nicely now. Chelsea have been in tip-top shape of late, winning eight of their last nine in all competitions. Last weekend, the Blues beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road to stretch their Premier League winning run to five matches.

Chelsea kicked off their Champions League campaign with a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Valencia back in September. Since then, though, the Londoners have won back-to-back away games in Group H, seeing off Lille (2-1) and Ajax (1-0).

Three points on Tuesday would put Chelsea in a superb position to qualify for the Round of 16. However, Ajax are a well-drilled team these days, and the Dutch side will be out for revenge after their home defeat to the Blues a fortnight ago.

Chelsea vs Ajax Head to Head

Last month’s clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam was the first ever meeting between Ajax and Chelsea. It was a tight game in the Dutch capital, but Michy Batshuayi’s effort with four minutes left on the clock gave Frank Lampard’s men a 1-0 away victory.

Key-Facts – Chelsea vs Ajax

  • Both Chelsea and Ajax have six points to their name in the group
  • The Blues have won eight of their last nine in league and cup
  • Their recent loss to Chelsea remains Ajax’s only defeat in 20 in all comps this season

Ajax News and Form – Will the Dutch champions get revenge?

Ajax started Champions League Group H with consecutive 3-0 wins over Lille and Valencia. Although their recent loss to Chelsea was a setback, Erik ten Hag’s boys have put themselves in a strong position in the group.

That defeat to the Premier League side was their first reverse in any competition this season. Ajax have been in stunning form in the Dutch Eredivisie, winning ten and drawing two of their opening 12 league encounters. Since losing to Chelsea last month, Ajax have beaten Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle in Eredivisie action, scoring four goals in both matches.

Ajax would love to put things right at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. The Dutch champions are certainly going places under Ten Hag, but they head to the English capital as the 14/5 underdogs.

Chelsea vs Ajax Tips & Odds

Chelsea vs Ajax Predictions

Draw: The Blues put on the perfect away performance in Amsterdam a fortnight ago. Chelsea had to soak up the pressure at times, but Batshuayi’s goal came at just the right moment, giving Ajax no time to respond. However, the game really could have gone either way, as the pair were very well matched on the night.

I fancy this one to be another close encounter between two excellent young teams. With that in mind, have a punt on the draw and both teams to score at 7/2.

Tammy Abraham has made a blistering start to his Premier League season at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old has scored nine league goals, with only Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy netting more (ten) up until now. Abraham also scored in Chelsea’s 2-1 win in Lille last month. Put some money on the Blues No. 9 to net first on Tuesday at 15/4.
