Chelsea News and Form – Can Chelsea hold their ground against Forest?

Chelsea have been struggling for some form at Stamford Bridge recently having lost three of their last four played there (W1). So things haven’t been goin well for the Blues having suffered back to back losses at home against Bournemouth and Southampton. Those defeats came without them having hit the back of the net. So that will be a major concern for boss Frank Lampard, who is seeing his team perform much better on the road at the moment.

But Chelsea have some great form going against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup. This is a repeat of last season’s third-round tie with the Blues winning 2-0 at the Bridge. The record of the Blues in the Cup is great as they have won eight of their last nine home fixtures in the competition. The one exception was their defeat against Manchester United in February last year. The Blues have scored a clean sheet in six of their last seven FA Cup home fixtures.

Key-Facts – Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest

  • Chelsea have won all but one of their last eight FA Cup home games
  • Nottingham Forest are W2 L6 in their last eight FA Cup games
  • The Blues have only conceded in one of their last seven FA Cup home games

Nottingham Forest News and Form – Can Forest win at the Bridge?

Nottingham Forest are inside the top four in the Championship and so are not likely to be a pushover. Of course, gaining promotion to the top flight is going to be a much bigger priority for them than trying to get an FA Cup run together. So there is no guarantee that they are going to be at full strength for this fixture either. Forest are on a three-match winning streak in the Championship so they do have some momentum behind them. They have lost just one of their last six away games in all competitions as well.

Forest have no away form going for them in the FA Cup as they are on a five-match losing streak on that front. They are W1 L6 in their last seven road fixtures in total. In four of their last five away games in the competition, the Tricky Trees have conceded at least two goals. They have tallied just one goal across their last four road games. There hasn’t been a high priority on the FA Cup by Forest who have suffered a loss in six of the last eight games home and away in the competition.

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest Predictions

Chelsea to win: The Blues would have to be backed to come through the tie on home soil. There may be changes to the starting eleven, but the Blues can find a way to get past a confident Nottingham Forest side.
