AL DANCER 6/1 FAV in Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase Racing Odds

Saturday will see the return of AL DANCER for his seasonal reappearance.

He took part in last season’s renewal and did as well as he possibly could to take a third palace finish.

The question is now where he has improved? Al Dancer will have his first run for a new yard on Saturday, and that yard is in form, which is a plus.

Al Dancer struggled to make an impact in his two races following his effort in this twelve months ago.

So he does need a bounce-back performance.

Al Dancer is a current quote of 6/1 in horse racing betting* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

PROTEKTORAT
13/2

Protektorat rates as a danger

There was some big progress made last season by PROTEKTORAT who rates as a big danger at Cheltenham on Saturday.

On his debut season over the fences, Protektorat won three of five starts.

The biggest of those was on his final one, a Grade 1 fixture at Aintree.

So he has the clear ability and won that Group 1 Manifesto Novices’ Chase by a wide margin of four lengths.

Protektorat is also a course and distance winner and looks to be on a very workable mark.

This will be his second run since a wind op and clearly goes well to the referees.

Protektorat is a quote of 13/2 in Cheltenham racing betting* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

Lalor makes for an interesting entry

LALOR piques some interest in the field as he has been a smart chaser when he is on top form.

He has raced and performed at higher marks than his.

There were good performances from him a couple of times last year at Cheltenham and looks to be one with a lot of promise.

But things have not clicked for Lalor this season, disappointing in both runs since making a return to action in the SPring.

Lalor will have his first run for Paul Nicholls on the weekend and the return to Cheltenham could just be the thing to spark Lalor back into gear.

Lalor is at a quote of 13/2* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

Midnight Shadow could get involved

Another interesting runner in Saturday’s Cheltenham action is MIDNIGHT SHADOW who is match fit after a run three weeks ago on his reappearance.

In that run, Midnight Shadow took a third-place finish in the Old Roan Chase.

On the back of that, he comes up 1lb for Saturday’s run and needs to be respected.

Last season Midnight Shadow was second in the Gold Cup and continues to show the ability to pull out those top performances.

Midnight Shadow may not be far away and is a current option at 11/1* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

Caribean Boy is interesting on his return

This will be a reappearance urn for Caribean Boy who is a former Grade 2 Chase winner. On his penultimate run, he was seventh in the Paddy Power Plate in March.

Even though he was well down the field, it was a very good run from him and he ran on well in it.

A bounce-back will be needed from Carbibean Boy after failing to complete a trip at Aintree over the National Fences.

That can be excused however and looks to bring some reasonable place claims with him for Saturday’s return to Cheltenham.

Caribean Boy is a quote of 14/1* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

Others to note

ZANZA was third at the Haldon Gold Cup eleven days ago. That keeps him fit and he did find plenty of improvement over the fences last season.

GALAHAD QUEST is a former Grade 2 hurdles winner. He was third over the fences at Haydock in February and looked to be shaping well on his recent return at Wetherby as well. There could be more to come from him and Galahad Quest is no forlorn hope.

COOLE CODY looked straight back on his came with a runner up finish three weeks ago. That was over the hurdles and primes him well for this. Coole Cody was last year’s winner of this race from 4lb lower. He went well at Cheltenham in March too with a fourth-place finish in the Paddy Power Plate.

PAINT THE DREAM won at Chepstow last month on his reappearance. Things came together well for him last year over the fences, scoring at Newbury in December in impressive style. This will demand more from him on Saturday.

Predictions & Tips for Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase Racing Odds

There are plenty of strong claims in this one but the first option for the shortlist is going to be PROTEKTORAT at 13/2* (odds recorded at 19:38 GMT on November 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

He looks to be sitting on a very good mark and he came a long way over the fences last season in terms of progress.

His Grade 1 win last season can’t be ignored and get himself heavily involved.

AL DANCER does bring a good record from fresh, but he needs to prove something in this one after having his form fall away at the end of the last camp.

He’s a smart chaser but needs a big performance.

Taking slight preference in favour over A Dancer is MIDNIGHT SHADOW who may well have this in him.

He’s won twice before at Cheltenham and performed admirably in the Old Roan last month, which means he’s fresh and tuned up.

Last year’s winner COOLE CODY can’t be ignored either, not with having had a reappearance run under his belt.

He clearly enjoys a trip at Cheltenham and is worth consideration for this one.
