Colorado Rapids News and Form – Can the Rapids secure a third win in a row?

New boss Robin Fraser has made a fine start to his managerial career at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The former New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC assistant coach has guided the Rapids to back-to-back wins.

In Fraser’s first game in charge, Jonathan Lewis netted twice in a 2-0 away win at New York Red Bulls. Colorado followed that up with a 2-0 home victory over Seattle Sounders last time out, with Andre Shinyashiki’s brace doing the business.

On the whole, it’s been a miserable season for the Rapids, who have picked up just nine MLS wins up until now. Meanwhile, they have drawn six and lost 14 of the other 20. Colorado currently occupy tenth place in the Western Conference table, six points above bottom club Vancouver Whitecaps. They are 21st out of 24 in the combined table.

Colorado’s fortunes have certainly turned around since Fraser’s appointment, but can they secure a hat-trick of league wins for the first time this season?

  • The Galaxy are nine points above the Rapids in the league table

LA Galaxy News and Form – Will the Galaxy get back to winning ways?

LA Galaxy are two places above Colorado in the Western table. However, they have taken nine more points than the Rapids and have played a game less. Overall, the Los Angeles franchise have won 13, drawn only three times and lost 12.

The Galaxy have been in poor form of late, winning just one of their last seven, with four of those ending in defeat. In fact, LA have lost half of their previous eight MLS matches. In all competitions, the Galaxy are without a win in four (two draws, two defeats).

The Galaxy were involved in a seven-goal thriller against Seattle last time out. Unfortunately for them, they were on the wrong end of the scoreline. Goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Uriel Antuna and Jorgen Skjelvik were not enough in the 4-3 defeat at CenturyLink Field.

On a more positive note for LA Galaxy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in stunning form this season. The former Sweden international has scored 23 goals in 23 MLS fixtures. Meanwhile, he’s found the net seven times in his last four outings.

The Galaxy have struggled over the past couple of months. The club from LA head to Colorado looking for their first win in five league and cup matches. Victory in this one could lift them up to as high as fifth.

Colorado Rapids v LA Galaxy Predictions

Draw: The Rapids look to be heading in the right direction after what has no doubt been a poor season. Fraser has got the side ticking again, and they will be gunning for their third win on the spin in this clash. As for LA, they could really do with all three points having won only one of their last seven MLS matches. This one really could go either way at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, so I’m backing the draw. Have a punt on the draw and both teams to score at 10/3.

As I touched on, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in scintillating form this season. The Swede may be 38 next month, but the eccentric striker has not lost any of his goal-scoring prowess. Put some money on Ibrahimovic to open the scoring in Colorado at 3/1.
