Crystal Palace News and Form

Try as they might, Crystal Palace couldn’t find a way past Cardiff’s defensive setup at home on Boxing Day and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. That is a three-match undefeated streak of form though from the Eagles now. They are also undefeated in three at Selhurst Park in the EPL, winning two of those. Those are the only two home victories that they have recorded so far this season (D3 L4). In total Crystal Palace have only managed five goals on home soil this season but three of them have been in their last three games at Selhurst Park. Defensively Palace deserve credit as they have only shipped eight home goals.

Just 11% of league games at Selhurst Park this season have gone over 2.5 goals. In total Crystal Palace have managed a clean sheet in 44% of their home games in the top flight this season. As a huge negative though, they have failed to hit the back of the net in 67% of home fixtures. The Eagles have been trailing at the half time break just once at home this term (W3 D5) which leans towards the half-time draw in his one. Of the goals which they have conceded at home, all but one of have been in the second half of games. Each of the last four games at Selhurst Park have gone under 2.5 goals

Crystal Palace v Chelsea Head to Head

Chelsea took a 3-1 home win over Palace in November
Palace won their last league home game against Chelsea 2-1
Both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings
The two have traded two wins each over the last four EPL classes

Chelsea News and Form

Eden Hazard was the star of the show once against for Chelsea on Boxing Day as they took a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road over Watford. The result leaves Chelsea at W4 D1 L3 in their last eight games in the top flight. Just a slight concerns for the Blues is the two of those three defeats were away from home. Chelsea have won back to back league away games though now on their travels so are maybe turning things around. Those back to back away wins were both 2-1 successes over Brighton and then Watford. Chelsea’s overall away record this season is W6 D1 L2

The Blues have won all five away games against sides currently 13th and lower so that does put them in good standing for this one. Chelsea, despite crying out for a number nine, have come up with 18 goals on their travels this season. They have only shipped the eight goals away from home which is solid enough. 89% of their away games have managed to get above the 2.5 goals line. The Blues have managed to pick up just the one clean sheet in their last five league games (home and away combined). Chelsea have scored in each of their last six away games but are without a clean sheet in four. The Blues have been leading at the half time break in 5 of their 9 away games this season.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea Predictions

Chelsea to win: Palace have done alright against Chelsea in the last couple of seasons. But they are a little short up front and ultimately we have to predict the away win. But the Eagles won’t go down without a fight, so both teams to score does have appeal.
