Crystal Palace News and Form – Can Palace deny Man City victory?

It wasn’t the brightest of stars that Crystal Palace head to the new season. But they have done so very well since, collecting four wins in their last six fixtures (D1 L1). They haven’t been beaten yet this season at Selhurst Park, having taken a W2 D2 home record. With that in mind, will they have the strength to shut down Manchester CIty enough to deny the visitors a win? Palace have earned back-to-back league wins, banking victories over Norwich and West Ham.

Crystal Palace are yet to host any team who are currently in the top half of the table. That’s just worth noting because they have had some of the easier games under their belt so far. The Eagles have, home and away, scored in all but two league games this season. At Selhurst Park specifically, none of the league games this season have made it over 2.5 goals. Palace will have done very well in this fixture if that happened on the weekend.

Crystal Palace have been sat level at the half time break in all but one of their league home games in this campaign. That leads on to another stat, having scored 75% of their home goals in the second period of fixtures. Luka Milivojevic makes a return following his suspension. In total Crystal Palace are undefeated in their last six games in the Premier League at home. Can they do enough to keep City at arm’s length?

Manchester City News and Form – Can Man City win at Selhurst Park?

Manchester City suffered their second defeat of the new campaign just before the international break. That was a shocker of a 2-0 home reverse against Wolves. That’s two defeats in their last four league games now for the Citizens, which is pretty much unheard of for them. Out on the road in the top flight this season, the Citizens have earned a w3 L1 record. Their last game on the road ended in a 3-1 win for them at Everton.

The loss leaves Manchester City trailing league leaders Liverpool by eight points. Even at this early stage of the season that is a bit of a mountain to climb for the Citizens as they try and make it three league titles on the bounce. City are the top-scoring side in the top flight, having netted 27 in their eight games. Over 2.5 goals has happened in each of Manchester City’s last five away games.

The Citizens have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine away games in the top flight. They have brilliant away form do City, as they have won all but one of their last eleven roads games. The one exception in that brilliant run was their loss at Norwich this season. Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones have been in training for them this week, but remain doubts to get in the starting eleven.
