With the kick off of the new season of Strictly Come Dancing done, there was a big shake up in the betting market at Ladbrokes. Going into the new season as a big 20/1 outsider shot, Debbie McGee saw her odds slashed to win the crown over the weekend, Ladbrokes cutting her to 6/1 after a magical Paso Doble on Saturday.
The 58-year-old widow of magician Paul Daniels, showed that she still had a trick up her sleeve with a popular performance and now moves into the position of third favourite to win the show. The market leader is still Aston Merrygold and he was also trimmed from 3/1 down to 5/2 to get the Glitterball after the first show.
Hallelujah singer Alexandra Burke sits at 4/1 between Merrygold and McGee in the early running of the new season. Some of the pre-season favourites for the title didn’t fare too well, with Mollie King going on a big drift out to 7/1 while Gemma Atkinson floundered out to 9/1.
On the other end of things, Brian Conley struggled in the first show and he became the 2/1 outright favourite at Ladbrokes to be the first one to get the chop from the show, followed by Simon Rimmer at 5/2 and Rev. Richard Coles at 6/1.
