Derby County News and Form

Derby County had one foot in the play-offs when they took the lead against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday. However, Wayne Routledge’s equaliser for the Swans has left the door open for Middlesbrough and Bristol City. County still have sixth place in their own hands, though, as three points on Sunday will book their spot in the play-offs regardless of other results.

Lampard’s boys have had a very strong finish to their season, winning three and drawing two of their last five. Before drawing in South Wales in midweek, Derby had secured successive 2-0 wins over Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City. County have made themselves very hard to beat of late, losing only one of their past 11 in the Championship.

Only Sheffield United, Norwich City and Leeds United – the top three – have a better home record this season. Derby have won 12, drawn seven and lost just three times on home turf, picking up an impressive 43 points in the process. The Rams have lost just once at Pride Park since November, meanwhile.

West Bromwich Albion News and Form

Before a ball was kicked this season, West Bromwich Albion were one of the favourites for the title. Although West Brom hardly troubled the top two, they remained consistent all season, even after Darren Moore was harshly shown the door a few months back. James Shan, Albion’s temporary boss, has done a fine job since taking over on an interim basis at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies have been one of the best away sides in the division, collecting an impressive 37 points on their travels, with only Norwich (42) and Sheffield Utd (39) taking more up until now. However, Albion have won just one of their last five away from home, losing three along the way.

West Brom have lost two matches under Shan, winning six times. Since losing 3-2 at Ashton Gate a month back, Albion have taken ten points from the last 12 on offer. Last Saturday, the Baggies came from behind to beat Rotherham United at The Hawthorns, with Jay Rodriguez (pen) and Rekeem Harper getting the goals in the 2-1 win.

Derby County v West Bromwich Albion Predictions

Draw: With a play-off place at stake, Lampard’s Rams will be going all out for the three points on Sunday. However, West Brom are a classy outfit on their day, and Albion are capable of winning this one. It could be worth backing the draw and both teams to score at Pride Park. If you’re feeling brave enough, put a few quid on the 2-2 stalemate, which is available at top odds of 12/1 at bet365.
