Derby v Hull Betting Preview – Championship 8th September 7.45pm

A good looking clash from Pride Park to come on Friday night as the domestic action returns to the Championship after the international break. Both of these have collected seven points from their respective opening five games of the new season and so this should be a pretty good contest. The Rams though have only managed one win in their last four home games against the Tigers, but they are kicking off as favourites to pick up the three points in this opener to the weekend.

Derby v Hull Betting Tips

The Rams will be heading into just their third home game of the season in the Championship on Friday night. So far they have lost against Wolves and have beaten Preston at Pride Park. Just before the international break, they suffered a tough 3-1 loss out at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United, snapping a two match winning streak that they were on. The Rams have been steady and unspectacular in front of goal so far averaging just a goal per game. Each of the last three meetings between Derby and Hull at Pride Park have seen more than two goals, so over 2.5 goals at bet365 returns a price of 21/20 and that’s not bad value at all. Up in the anytime goalscorer market for the game, David Nugent is a 6/4 option with Matej Vydra at 7/4 options for the Rams. Chris Martin is 7/4 outright favourite. While Derby have on paper, the better attack, Hull look the more likely of the two to score.

Hull have not been goal shy this season in the Championship and pounded Bolton 4-0 just before the international break. However, they have picked up just the one point from their two games out on the road in the league so far this season. They do have the form on the road at Derby though having won three of their last four visits there, scoring at least two goals in each of those three wins. The Tigers played Derby four times in the 2015/16 season and Hull managed to win just one of those, the Rams winning the other three to nil. In the bet365 correct score market, a Derby 2-1 victory is a price of 15/2, while the shortest option on a Hull win is a 1-0 scoreline for them at 17/2. The Tigers should be a threat to them averaging over two goals per game so far this season, but they haven’t quite clicked out on the road. Both teams not to score at bet365 is a price of 5/6 and only two of the last ten meetings have both teams scored in the game. So a good betting trend there. Jarrod Bowen has three goals in his last two league games for the Rams and is a 4/1 anytime goalscorer option.

Derby v Hull Predictions

Draw: This looks too tight to call. Hull have produced the goals this season but not the away form, while they do have the form at Pride Park. The Rams have the overall head to head form going from recent games but may not pack enough of a punch going forward to take down the Tigers. Draw.
