Supreme Escape primed for success?

Horse Racing Betting

The final action of the day from Doncaster on Friday is the 15:55 which is a Class 4 race. This is a 3m affair as well with a big field of 14 challengers taking on the challenge.

While there is a big field out, there is one name which has been dominating the betting so far. That is Supreme Escape who has been heavily backed to collect the victory in the handicap hurdle.

Supreme Escape a commanding favourite

Six year old Supreme Escape has finished fourth in his last two outings. The most recent of which was a run at Chepstow over the 3m in December. That was his hurdles debut and he looked good in it. The quality that he faced in that outing was far stiffer than what he is up against in this one.

Supreme Escape was second to Welsh National star Potters Corner in that race. He will be back at the same handicap rating for this one. So big things are expected of him as the commanding 5/4 favourite* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 21:04 on January 23rd, 2020)

Cathals Star and Master Tradesman

‌ ‌On Friday evening, there were only two others on the card that were trading in single figures. The first of those being Cathals Star, 9/2 second favourite* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 21:04 on January 23rd, 2020).

His last outing was at Doncaster back in December over a much shorter 2m 3f distance and was fourth there at an SP of 28/1. From five goes at hurdles the seven year old has placed once.

Master Tradesman is an even bigger price at 7/1 for this race* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 21:04 on January 23rd, 2020). He failed to deliver as favourite at Hereford over 3m 1f in December, taking a sixth place finish. He hasn’t delivered a win anywhere in the last couple of years and for a 3/1 favourite on his last trip he really wasn’t in the picture.

Who’s In The Box

There has been some steady form from Who’s In The Box recently. He has won over the distance before (point to point)and on his last run took a third place at Catterick in December. That was over 2m 3f but he looked as if he had more in him to go up in trip. That was a Class 4 fixture and just because how strong he finished in the race, it looked as if he can handle more work.

Other contenders of note

‌Kiwayu is coming back following a long absence. The eleven year old has not been out since July last year because from stepping away he did have some fantastic from behind him. He took two wins and a second place finish in three straight runs, all at the 2m 7f distance. Just before he has to be regarded even if just as a 14/1 each way option* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 21:04 on January 23rd, 2020).

Drumlee City will be making a return after a big absence too. He claimed a win at 2m 7f in his last run which was at Towcester back in March last year. Sissinghurst is another who has been away from the game for a while. He landed back to back second placed in his final races, the most recent of which was in August 2018.

Predictions‌ ‌&‌ ‌Tips

‌Performance-wise on his last trip, Supreme Escape looks the clear favorite in what is an average field at best for this Doncaster fixture. He looks as if he has a lot more to come and it would be no surprise if he delivers as 5/4 favourite.

The other pick is a good 12/1 shot on Who’s In The Box* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 21:04 on January 23rd, 2020). In his last run at Catterick he produced a fine finish and their indications that he could enjoy himself even more over a longer trip.
