Miss Heritage can deliver on strong claims at Doncaster

It’s at class 3 going over a distance of 2m 128y. It’s a big field and there are a lot of claims, but it is Miss Heritage who has held favouritism.

Miss Heritage to go as favourite

There’s a lot to get through in this field, but 6-year-old Miss Heritage is the favourite. She was a winner on her last trip which was at Huntington on February 20th.

That was after opening the year with a third-place at Fakenham (where she has won as well this season). There was a penalty to pay for her 2m success at Huntington (as 15/8 favourite) and that is a 7lb rise.

But still, she lines up as the 11/4 favourite* (betting odds taken at 14:12 GMT on Thursday, 27th February)

Maria Magdalena E/W
14/1

Amberose

The recent form of Amberose could pique some interest and she is a former distance winner. She claimed a 2m 1f win at class 4 in November last year and has since placed second in her following two races.

The most recent of those was at Doncaster in mid-January over a 2m 3f trip. She can handle the conditions and shouldn’t be far from the picture at 11/2* (betting odds taken at 14:12 GMT on Thursday, 27th February)

Miah Grace

Miah Grace was third on her last run at the back end of January over a 1m 7f trip. That was at class 3 where she was beaten by four and a quarter lengths by Applesandpierres.

She had been 10lb heavier in that one that when she claimed a win in early December at Hexham at 2m.

She is a very good traveller, stacked with potential and should be at home in this kind of company at 13/2* (betting odds taken at 14:12 GMT on Thursday, 27th February)

Sorbet, STainsby Girl and Nikap

These three were the only others in the field who were trading in single fixtures on Thursday evening. Sorbet heads into action after a second-place finish over course and distance just last month. She’s still seeking her first win over the hurdles.

Stainsby Girl has been putting together some consistent form. She was third out by a big 16l at 2m 4f at Newcastle last month. She has won at the distance before on soft ground.

Then there is Nikap, who claimed a victory at Uttoxeter at class 5 in a field of 13 at the start of November. Her last run was on November 30th last year when she was outclassed (at class 1) at Newbury over a 2 mile. While she was never going to get close to a win at 66/1, it was a very good workout nonetheless.

Other notable runners

Gelboe De Chanay was fifth at Ludlow on a 2m trip earlier this month. She is at the 10/1 odds mark for this contest* (betting odds taken at 14:12 GMT on Thursday, 27th February).

But the four-year-old did open her hurdling account with a victory in France in a field of five. In her first attempt in the UK, she fell at class 4 at Fontwell after switching stables to Philip Hobbs. There’s potential there but it is likely to need more.

Maria Magdalena, another four year old unseated her rider at Catterick in their last run. But she was in the lead at the time in the class 4 contest. She has some claims, perhaps none bigger than her second-place up at class 1 in a contest at Wetherby in November in a juvenile hurdle.

Maria Magdalena looks a fantastic 14/1 each-way option* (betting odds taken at 14:12 GMT on Thursday, 27th February).

Predictions & Tips

A great race ahead there should be. Miss Heritage does look to be on her game at the moment, there is really no denying that. Her recent victory at Huntington was just a nice workout for her as it was uncompetitive.

She can handle herself in this company, despite some other good claims. Miah Grace certainly has a stack of appeal to get in the places because she is so wonderfully consistent. But as the big outside shot, there’s none better than Maria Magdalena.
