MATTHEW FLINDERS is the favourite for the opening race of Doncaster’s Saturday card at a quote of 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020).

He rattled the crossbar on his last run, being well in the frame until the dying strides. He settled for fourth in that one, but has looked wonderfully progressive.

Matthew Flinders looks to be a good keen runner and should feature. He got off the mark at the second time of asking, which was at Doncaster back in June this year.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

OVERWRITE is worth a look for a place on the shortlist as well. He has some excellent consistent performances behind him and there was a good one from him last time out.

That was in a run at Goodwood, which suggests that if he brings the same level of intensity to the table in this one, he should get close.

The other pick will be AWEEDRAM who looks to be trending towards something. He has taken second place in his last two trips now, which were at Haydock and Newbury.

Aweedram looks to be back on top form right now and has a 5lb claimer for this Doncaster trip.

CHINDIT is the Race 2 favourite at Doncaster on Saturday from 6/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020). This will be his third racetrack appearance and he has won his first two.

The debut score was over course and distance before striking in a Listed fixture. Big player and he looks to set the standard in this one. He may be very tough to beat here.

ALBASHEER scored on his debut at course and distance as well. The colt just threw down an extraordinary power display to get that win.

He has to have appeal on the shortlist. Also, one of those he beat on his debut has also gone on to win at course and distance, so his form has been franked.

MUJBAR left behind his debut performance by firing off a win in a Newmarket novice to get off the mark.

That win came by a commanding distance as well, happening a couple of weeks ago. He may well have something to put into the hat at this level.

It is A MOMENTOFMADNESS who is the 6/1 favourite for the Portland Handicap* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020).

There was a good third-place finish from him last time out.

That was at Goodwood and it signalled a return to form after having had some struggles. This is a race he loves, having won it in 2018 and then claiming second place in last season’s renewal.

He is well treated in the handicap and should feature strongly.

SOLDIER’S MINUTE is worth a look as well as he is coming into some top form. On his last run, which was at York, he only found one too good in that fixture.

He’s only gone up 1lb from that and therefore remains on a very workable mark. His yard’s in form, so the potential is there.

The consistent MOUNTAIN PEAK is an interesting player in this field. He is now at the highest mark of his career, but trainer Ed Walker has him in great shape at the moment.

Mountain Peak has scored in two of his last four, the most recent of those was at Haydock last time out.

The race favourite is LIMATO at 5/2 for this Stakes fixture on Saturday* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020). He looks like a big player in the field after scoring on his return.

That was in the big Criterion Stakes at Newmarket and he is a previous winner of this race as well, getting the score in 2015. The veteran still seems to be going well and shows that he is very capable.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

ONE MASTER looks as if she should be in the frame here for Willie Haggas. This is her ideal distance and the form is right there at the moment.

Two races ago she posted a win at the Oak Tree Stakes and was then runner-up on her next trip in the City Of York. There are easily some leading claims there.

WICHITA looks to be the other big player here putting in a good run at the 2000 Guineas before racing the places at the St James’ Palace.

His last two races have not gone as well, struggling to get things together in the Sussex Stakes and Prix Maurice de Gheest but had excuses in both. He’s still a player.

The race favourite for the St Leger Stakes is SANTIAGO at 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020).

It has been great stuff from him this season, scoring in his first two runs, which was the Queen’s Vase and the Irish Derby.

He took third in the Goodwood Cup last time out, just getting a little bit excited too early on.

But he remains a very big player here and last year’s winning jockey Frankie Dettori is on his back as well. But there is some serious competition in this fixture.

HUKUM looks absolutely fantastic at the moment after confirming Group 1 quality by winning the Geoffrey Freer in August.

So he brings some very strong claims to the table in this one as he saw off a very good field. That’s back to back wins for him this season as well, the Geoffrey Freer success happening after an Ascot handicap score.

The other big player in the field is PYLEDRIVER. Talking of big performances, he put in one of the runs of 2020 when he landed the Great Voltigeur last time out.

That was such a commanding, impressive win, adding to his King Edward win at Royal Ascot earlier in the season, he gets the nod from us at 10/3* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:35 GMT on Friday, 11th September 2020)

MARK OF THE MAN goes for Richard Hannon who has had a decent time of things in this particular race, winning it twice since 2015. Mark Of The Man missed out on a hattrick chance last time out, which was in a York 1m trip. But ran well and should enjoy the distance again.

LONE EAGLE is the other pick here scoring at Goodwood last time out. It was a solid run, nothing spectacular to get the win. But there should be more from him and may flourish in a little bit of a stiffer challenge.

For this small field it is AL MUFFRIH and MANKAYAN who are the joint 7/4 favourites* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

AL MUFFRIH has been in great shape this season. Last time out he was in second place, finding only SPANISH ARCHER too good on the day there. That was 50 days ago. He gets the cheekpieces on for the first now, so it’s expected that Al Muffrih will have more.

MANKAYAN secured a course and distance win three races ago in July. He has been right in the frame in his following two runs as well at Ascot and Pontefract. He has every chance of making his presence felt in his small field.

It’s only worth looking at one more name and that is SPANISH ARCHER who got a recent win at Ripon, beating Al Muffrih. He was then put into a strong handicap fixture at Ascot and did alright, but was never able to get himself in position.
