Tight battle expected in Ascot Jersey Stakes

Horse Racing Betting

The Jersey Stakes is the opener on Day Two of Royal Ascot 2017 and this scrap between three-year-olds over eight furlongs will be the 98th renewal of this race, which is open to both colts and fillies. We have seen some famous winners recently of this one with Ribchester and Dutch Connection having triumphed for Godolphin in the last two editions and they have a pretty good shot of making it three in a row with Dream Castle going at 7/2 with Bet365 in the market and at Bet365 you can claim the best price on every horse for all races which are shown live on ITV Racing.

To ensure that you get the best price on every horse running, just place a bet from 10 am on the day of the race and they Bet365 will match the price of Ladbrokes, William Hill, Paddy Power, Coral, Sky Bet and Boylesports, so you can get your Royal Ascot betting down safe in the knowledge that you are getting the best price.

Dream Castle was out at the 2000 Guineas with Silvester De Sousa getting him home for fifth and that is a great platform for him to make a run at this title. After he had won his maiden, Dream Castle was a favourite for the Greenham Stakes but he was bettered on the day by Barney Roy who was up for the challenge, but then that showing at the 2000 Guineas showed punters that the potential is there for him to make a success at Royal Ascot.

Le Brivido is the only one shorter than him in the market and this will be his debut on British Soil. He has big credentials though because he nearly pulled off a big-priced shock in the French version of the 2000 Guineas, the Poule d’Essai des Poulains. Punters massively overlooked him in the market where he went off at 16/1 and so nearly delivered and it only took a late surge in the race from Bramtot to deny him.

That was his first go at eight furlongs too and over two shorter 6 furlong races, he destroyed the field in both of them. He looks a real class act and as long as he enjoys the trip across the Channel then he is going to have plenty of backing on the day. John Gosden’s filly Daban is in the mix and this will be the filly’s first shot at mixing it up with the boys. But her rating pretty much speaks for itself really and won her season opener at the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket with Frankie Dettori in the saddle.

Daban can get herself in the frame in this one because at the 1000 Guineas, although her unbeaten career came to an end, she performed very well around Epsom, finishing third behind Winter and Rhododendron and that should say a lot about her challenge at Ascot this week. Whitecliffsofdover hasn’t been tracking with any kind of form really and surprisingly lost at Naas last month for Aiden O’Brien, while Taamol impressed in a Listed King Charles II Stakes after a late surge and looks pretty strong.
