Dundee v Rangers Betting Preview – Scottish Premiership December 9

Rangers offer no value at resurgent Dundee

Football Betting

Seven days is a long time in football and anyone who considered Rangers an away banker at this time last week may be thinking again after the midweek fixtures in the Scottish Premiership which saw Steven Gerrard’s men surrender top spot and the Jim McIntyre’s side pick up only a second league win of the campaign.

Dundee Form

Wednesday’s 4-0 victory over Hamilton Academical was not a result that will send fear coursing through the rest of the Scottish Premiership but it will have been a massive relief for The Dee’s new manager, who finally oversaw a win at the seventh attempt. The seeds of a revival in fortunes have now been set with three games unbeaten and seven goals scored and no-one will be relishing a match against Rangers more than former Ibrox favourite Kenny Miller. The former Scotland striker had two spells at Rangers, scoring 33 times, and he was Dundee’s hat-trick hero against Hamilton, though was sent off at Ibrox in September. Dundee are still bottom of the table but there may now be light at the end of the tunnel and there is no doubt that the squad has under-performed to date.

Rangers Form

Rangers’ biggest problem at present is keeping 11 men on the pitch. They’ve ended their last three games with only nine outfield players. Top scorer Alfredo Morelos was the latest to see red and he now misses the Dens Park clash. Gerrard wants his team to be aggressive but some players have taken the manager’s call to arms too literally and it could ending up costing them a title challenge if it’s not reined back. However, they had won four in a row in the league prior to Wednesday’s defeat at home to Aberdeen and are still only a point off leaders Kilmarnock. Borna Barisic is edging closer to a return for Rangers but Ryan Kent is likely to remain sidelined.

Dundee v Rangers Head-to-Heads

Rangers have won on five of their last six visits to Dens Park and beat this weekend’s rivals 4-0 at Ibrox in September. The three meetings between the sides previously had seen both teams score, however.

Dundee v Rangers Current Best Odds

Dundee 10/1, Draw 5/1, Rangers 3/10 (Odds correct at 10.30am December 7)

Dundee v Rangers Predictions

Rangers do not have much strength-in-depth in attack and are going to miss the suspended Morelos. In the 16 games he has not scored (two of which he was suspended for), Rangers have won only three and lost four and that offers further encouragement for a resurgent Dundee, who look terrific value at Evens with Betway getting two goals start on the handicap. Under 3.5 total goals is 8/15 and also holds appeal.
