Dunfermline Athletic News and Form – Tough opener for the Pars?
Dunfermline Athletic finished in seventh last season, winning 11, drawing eight and losing 17 of their 36 Championship matches. Allan Johnston was sacked in January, with Crawford taking over the following day.
The Pars struggled at East End Park, winning just five times on home soil. Only Falkirk, who finished rock bottom, picked up fewer home points (16) than Dunfermline’s 18. However, the club were far more competitive away from home, sealing an impressive 23 points.
Dunfermline have kicked off the season with three Scottish League Cup wins from four games. They beat St Mirren 3-2, Albion 6-0 and East Kilbride 4-0. Meanwhile, Athletic suffered a 1-0 reverse to Edinburgh City a few weeks back. Kevin Nisbett has started the season like a house on fire, scoring five times already.
Athletic will be keen to improve on last season’s disappointing seventh-place finish in the Championship. Crawford’s side travel to Queens of the South after hosting Dundee.

It’s been a disastrous year for Dundee, who won just five times in the league last season. The club had five years in the top flight after being promoted as Championship champions back in 2014. Dundee would love to make an instant return to Scotland’s top table at the end of this campaign.
Dundee were horrendous at Dens Park last term, as they picked up just one victory from 19 home league matches. Away from home, the Dee fared slightly better, winning four, drawing two and losing 13.
McPake’s troops have won two and drawn two in the Scottish League Cup so far this season. They earned a 3-0 win at Raith before battling to two goalless draws against Cove Rangers and Peterhead respectively. Last time out, Dundee beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 thanks to Danny Johnson’s first-half strike.
