Ecuador v France World Cup 2014, 25th June Betting Preview

It will be interesting to see how Ecuador approach this. They are in a duel with Switzerland to join the French in the next round, starting level on points with the Swiss, but holding advantage thanks to a better goal difference. Ecuador, in what will be their toughest group, have to match what the Swiss do against Honduras on Wednesday in order to progress. But Les Bleus are in hungry form at the moment and will look to keep momentum going.

Ecuador v France Betting Tips

The two sides have only met once before and that was a 2-0 win for the French in a friendly back in May 2008. How times have changed for the French, because none of the eleven who started that match are in the current World Cup squad. Didier Deschamps has France firing on all cylinders at the moment, all without Franck Ribery too. They are in control of the group having beaten Honduras and Switzerland comprehensively, and they are unbeaten in their last six matches played, winning five of those. They are favourites and and the French haven’t lost any of their last six matches against South Americans teams at the World Cup (W3 D3).

France are on fire going forward, with Karim Benzema and Olivier Giroud both on offer around the even money mark in the anytime goalscorer market. Real Madrid’s Benzema has been lighting up the tournament, and he has scored six in his last four appearances for his country, being involved in five of France’s eight goals at Brazil 2014 so far. The French have now netted sixteen goals in their last three games played and it adds up to there being a fair chance of the game going over 2.5 goals. Les Blues have scored three or more goals in consecutive World Cup matches for the first time since the 1998 World Cup, the last time that they went on to lift the tile incidentally.

Ecuador are going to be nervous in this one, because Switzerland are heavy favourites to beat Honduras. At least they have their own in form striker in the shape of Enner Valencia, who has now scored seven in his last six international appearances, netting at least once in each of those games. He has produced half of Ecuador’s eight shots on target at the World Cup so far. Ecuador are hard to get a read on, they have produced very patchy W2 D2 L2 form over their last six matches played and they have conceded in each of them as well. So you wouldn’t expect them to come out of this with a clean sheet in tow against the high scoring French. Can they get any change out of the French?

Ecuador v France Predictions

Ecuador have done OK in patches, but they are not up to the quality of the French. Deschamps has a really good thing going at the moment and would expect the French to bag value in the outright market for punters. Also Both Teams To Score looks pretty likely in this one, as both have scored in each of their last six matches respectively.
