Hazard to fulfill boyhood dream?

Will Hazard be making the Bernabeu move next summer?

Usually, players are little cryptic when discussing their future. Not so much from Eden Hazard who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for some time now. The Chelsea forward has had a stellar season so far, currently standing as the top scorer in the Premier League, flourishing under Sarriball.

The arrival of Maurizio Sarri has reignited a spark in Hazard, the system suits his attacking play and he looks arguably the best player in the world at the moment. There was speculation that Hazard would be off to the Bernabeu in the summer and the Belgian admitted that he probably would have left if former boss Antonio Conte had stuck around.

Undecided Future

Talking this week about his future, he admitted he is undecided about where his future lies.

“I don’t want to say, ‘yes, I am signing a new contract’ and then, in the end, I don’t end up signing,” he told the media. “Sometimes in my head, I wake up in the morning and think I want to go. Sometimes I think I want to stay.

“Real Madrid are the best club in the world. I don’t want to lie today. It is my dream since I was a kid. I was dreaming about this club.”

Hazard odds-on for Summer move

That can be read as a strong sign that the 27-year-old will be off next summer if Real Madrid make the bid. Los Blancos didn’t try to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer strangely, but the arrival of Hazard at the Bernabeu would give them that elite player superstar again.

Betfair have Hazard at 4/6 to sign for Real Madrid before August 1st 2019 and at 11/8 to go there in the January transfer window* (betting odds taken on October 9th, 2018 at 4:20 pm).

Alternatively, Hazard is 11/10 to remain at Stamford Bridge at the start of next season and he’s at 1/2 to still be with the Blues at the close of the January 2019 transfer window* (betting odds taken on October 9th, 2018 at 4:20 pm).

Lopetegui under pressure

Further Real Madrid betting news sees boss Julen Lopetegui under pressure. Real Madrid posted a D1 L3 record in all competitions just before the international break, including a 3-0 loss against Sevilla in La Liga and a 1-0 Champions League loss against CSKA Moscow.

The goals have badly dried up for Real Madrid and it’s nothing to do with the loss of Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar had a terribly low-production rate from the start of last season through to January, so it’s not his departure to Juventus. It’s more. It’s a lack of depth at the club.

In the Betfair Next Real Madrid Manager market, current Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is the 5/2 favourite to be the next man into the Bernabeu hotseat, with Antonio Conte there at 7/2* (betting odds taken on October 9th, 2018 at 4:34 pm).
