EFL Championship Matchday 42: Best Betting Football Tips

Reading vs. Cardiff City: EFL Betting Tip

The action kicks off on Friday night when Reading host Cardiff at the Madejski Stadium. These two have played out some memorable fixtures over the years, and both teams will be gunning for maximum points. The Royals have slipped five points away from sixth, while the Bluebirds are even further behind.

Veljko Paunovic’s men have had a fine season, spending most of the campaign in the top six. However, they have dropped out at just the wrong time, with the Royals now needing a massive upswing in fortunes to take one of the four play-off places.

Our betting prediction:
Cardiff to win & both teams to score
13/2

Cardiff also flirted with the play-offs recently, which shows off just how good a job Mick McCarthy has done in South Wales since arriving in January. However, City have gone off the boil of late, dropping 12 points behind sixth. Nevertheless, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship under McCarthy next season.

Reading have a good recent record over Cardiff and they won the reverse fixture in the Welsh capital, but we fancy the Bluebirds in this one. You can get 4/1 for the visitors to win by one goal.

Reading 6/5

Brentford vs. Millwall: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Brentford and Millwall meet in an all-London affair at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Currently, Thomas Frank’s men are nine points behind second-place Watford with a game in hand.

After four straight draws, the Bees got back to winning ways in emphatic style last weekend, thumping Preston North End 5-0 at Deepdale. Brentford will now be looking for their first home victory since beating Stoke City 2-1 on 27th February.

Millwall have been in good form of late, winning four of their last six in the Championship. However, after three wins on the bounce, the Lions were hammered at home by Swansea City last time out. Millwall are already gearing up for another season in the second tier.

As Brentford look to keep the pressure on Watford, no less than three points will suffice for Frank and his men at the weekend. In truth, the Bees should have too much for Millwall to handle, so back the hosts to be winning at half time and full time (7/5).

Luton Town vs. Watford: EFL Betting Odds & Predictions

Xisco Munoz’s Watford will take another huge leap towards promotion to the Premier League with three points at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. As you would expect, the high-flying Hornets are the clear favourites in Luton.

The Hatters have had a fine season under Nathan Jones, spending pretty much the entirety of the campaign in and around mid-table. After defeats to Derby County and Barnsley, Town got back to winning ways last weekend with a 3-1 away triumph over Wycombe Wanderers.

Watford have been flying lately, winning 11 of their previous 13 Championship matches. Since a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in late February, Munoz’s men have dropped just two points in their following eight games. They head to Bedfordshire seven points ahead of third place.

Luton will be no pushovers on their own patch, but Watford will fancy their chances of claiming their 25th Championship win of the season on Saturday. The away victory is available at 4/5.

Norwich City vs. Bournemouth: Best EFL Betting Tips on Matchday 42

Champions elect Norwich welcome in-form Bournemouth to Carrow Road in a Championship cracker this Saturday night. The Canaries will secure promotion with three points, but the Cherries could be tough opponents for the leaders.

Norwich have had a stunning season in the second tier after dropping out of the Premier League, winning a staggering 27 of their 41 league fixtures thus far. City are unbeaten in 13 in the Championship, winning 11 and drawing two.

Bournemouth have hit form at just the right time, with Jonathan Woodgate’s boys winning five in a row. They have been solid since Woodgate took over on a permanent basis, and the Cherries are now five points above seventh spot in the race for the play-offs.

Norwich would love to clinch promotion with a win on home soil, but we fancy Bournemouth to hold Daniel Farke’s boys to a draw at Carrow Road. There is excellent value in the draw and both teams to score at 7/2.
