EFL Championship Matchday 42: Best Betting Football Tips

Luton Town vs. Nottingham Forest: EFL Betting Tip

Luton and Nottingham Forest square off at Kenilworth Road on Friday afternoon. Both teams are in the play-off places, with the Reds two points and a place above the Hatters. Will we see a winner in this huge six-pointer in Bedfordshire?

Nathan Jones’ Luton have had a remarkable season, catching most by surprise. Many pundits and fans alike had the Hatters down for a relegation scrap before a ball was kicked last August, but Town have proved their doubters wrong. Three points against a promotion rival on Friday could be huge.

Our betting prediction:

7/1

(odds taken 2010 GMT, Wednesday 13 April)

Nottingham Forest are the form team of the Championship right now, winning seven and drawing three of their last ten league games. Steve Cooper’s men have won five on the spin and have fired themselves into fourth place. Forest will still have eyes on Bournemouth in second.

Luton are not an easy nut to crack at Kenilworth Road, but in-form Forest will fancy their chances. We like the look of 9/2 for the visitors to win and both teams to score.

Nottingham Forest 6/4

Bournemouth vs. Middlesbrough: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Scott Parker’s Bournemouth and Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough meet in a fascinating Championship fixture at the Vitality Stadium on Friday afternoon. The Cherries are sitting pretty in second with just a handful of games to go, while Boro are three points away from the final play-off berth in eighth.

Bournemouth have had a superb season under Parker, spending most of their time in the top two. Promotion is not done and dusted yet, but the Cherries have put themselves in a great position. The Dorset outfit will take another giant leap towards the Premier League with three points on home turf on Friday.

Wilder has done a great job at Middlesbrough since taking over at the Riverside Stadium, but Boro have been inconsistent of late. They head to the Vitality Stadium having lost three of their past four league and cup fixtures.

Bournemouth are unbeaten at home in the league since losing to Hull City in January. They have won four of the past six at the Vitality, and the bookies are offering 27/25 for Parker’s side to pick up another precious three points on Friday.

Sheffield United vs. Reading: EFL Championship Betting Odds & Predictions

Sheffield United currently occupy the final play-off spot in the Championship. The Blades will want to cement their place in the top six and secure all three points when they welcome lowly Reading to Bramall Lane on Good Friday.

Sheffield United have shot up the Championship table since Paul Heckingbottom took over, and the Blades look a good bet to take one of the four play-off positions come the end of the campaign. Since the new boss arrived, United have suffered just four league defeats.

Reading recently went four games unbeaten, which opened the gap on the relegation zone. They were beaten at home by Cardiff City last weekend, but the Royals are eight points clear of 22nd-place Barnsley. However, they have played a game more.

Reading have picked up under Paul Ince, but we can only see one winner in this one. On paper, this should be a routine home victory for Sheffield United. Check out the decent price of 11/8 for the hosts to be winning at half time and full time.

Sheffield United 11/20

Derby County vs. Fulham: Best EFL Championship Betting Tips on Matchday 42

The final match on Good Friday will take place in the evening, as Derby and Fulham do battle at Pride Park. These two are at opposite ends of the Championship table, and the high-flying Cottagers head to the Midlands as the odds-on favourites with the bookies.

Derby have had a tough season on and off the field, and Wayne Rooney’s men look to be heading for EFL League One. The Rams are joint bottom with Peterborough United on just 28 points, nine points adrift of Reading.

In contrast, Fulham are riding high at the top of the Championship and are well on their way to an instant return to the Premier League. Marco Silva’s Cottagers have been the real deal in the second tier this term, collecting a staggering 82 points from 40 league games.

Derby will no doubt have a go in front of their own fans as they always do, but Fulham’s qualities should shine through at Pride Park. You can get the top price of 3/1 for the Londoners to win both halves of this one.
