The astonishing run of Emma Raducanu in New York has seen her US Open Tennis betting odds drop all the way to 3/1* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill)

The young Brit has impressively powered her way to the Final Four. That leaves her two matches away from a maiden Grand Slam title.

Can she go all of the way?

Wimbledon puts Raducanu on the map

18-year-old Emma Raducanu received a wildcard for Wimbledon in the summer, her first Grand Slam appearance.

She wowed the home crowds there as she reached the Fourth Round.

Illness prevented her from completing her Fourth Round match against Ajla Tomljanovic at SW19.

But that put her on the map.

Was it to prove to be just a flash in the pan performance? Apparently not, as she has gone on to create big history in New York.

Raducanu odds slashed from 400/1

Even though Raducanu had had that relative success at Wimbledon, she was a 400/1 shot to win the 2021 US Open.

That was before the start of the tournament.

Now she is right into a quote of 3/1* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

While she received a stroke of fortune in the First Round as her 13th seed opponent Jennifer Brady pulled out, Raducanu has taken her chances well.

The first big statement from her came in the Third Round.

Raducanu had been an underdog against Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo who has had a storming year.

But Raducanu dropped just one game against the Spaniard in a rapid-fire, astonishing win.

It was just three sets dropped in her Fourth Round match against US home favourite Shelby Rogers.

Bencic the benchmark for young Brit

Then in the Quarter Finals, Emma Raducanu met a seeded player in the draw for the first time. Once again she had been an underdog as she faced Swiss player Belinda Bencic.

Bencic was a big form player, having claimed the Olympic title.

Even after falling quickly behind 2-0 in the opening set, Raducanu adapted, found her form against the newly crowned Olympic Champion to fight back and win.

There has not been a set dropped by Raducanu at Flushing Meadows. That includes the three qualification matches she got through.

Mature head on young shoulders

There’s always a smile on the face of Emma Raducanu and she has looked tremendously composed and mature on court.

She is an aggressive player as well, getting on the attack to disrupt the game plan of those across the net from her.

It’s exciting stuff and she will need all of that composure when she faces Maria Sakkari in the Semi Final.

Raducanu is the 6/5 underdog in tennis betting to beat Sakkari* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

Echoes of Iga Swiatek

At the 2020 French Open, the relatively unknown Iga Swiatek put together a truly remarkable campaign in Paris.

She played such fearless, aggressive tennis throughout, it was like a Polish whirlwind had blown through the tournament.

In that title win, Swiatek became the young winner at the French Open since 2005 (Rafael Nadal) and also the lowest-ranked winner ever of the Slam.

That’s what Raducanu’s current run at the US Open reminds us of.

The Final Four

Raducanu meets Greek star Maria Sakkari for a place in the Final. Sakkari is the more established player and made the semi finals of the French Open this year.

That was the previous best finish at a Slam for her in her career.

With a convincing victory over Karolina Pliskova in the Quarter Finals, a victory largely gained through some massive service power, Sakkari goes as the 4/5 odds-on favourite to win her semi final match* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

There is another teenage sensation in the Semifinals of the US Open tennis betting. That’s Canada’s Leylah Fernandez.

She has taken out two top-five seeds in Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina, along with getting rid of Angelique Kerber too.

Fernandez sits as the 7/1 outsider* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

The current favourite is Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka who is 11/10 odds-against in the US Open tennis betting outright* (odds recorded at 17:14 GMT on September 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

One thing is for certain at the Grand Slam. Someone will be earning their maiden Grand Slam title.
