England new 8/11 Six Nations 2019 favourites

Victory in Dublin makes England favourite

Rugby Betting

Following the opening weekend of the new Six Nations Rugby championship, it is England who are the new 8/11 favourites to win the title. The Red Rose had a difficult away game facing them in their opener as they had to go to Dublin to face the reigning Grand Slam champions Ireland. However, it was the underdogs England came out on top.

With little form in Dublin behind them and having put a very difficult and inconsistent 2018 behind them, England started the action on a Saturday evening as underdogs against the Irish. But after a blistering start with a try from Johnny may inside 2 minutes of the kick off, England just never looked back. Not even when they lost Tom Curry in the 13th minute to a caution.

England were just immensely quick and thunderous in their defence, not giving the Irish any time or space to settle down and play. England were also brutally powerful in their own attack, at times brave and at times playing on the side of good fortune. It was just about a total performance as they ran out 32-20 winners.

Three of England’s four remaining fixtures in this season’s championship are at Twickenham which is going to be a key factor in helping them push towards the title now. The only other away game that they do have play will be in the third round of action in Cardiff against Wales. Wales are the 5/2 second favourites to win this season’s Six Nations after they too opened with a victory.

Wales found themselves 16-0 down in Paris against France at half-time and just looked totally out of the running. However, Wales totally turned the game on its head after the halftime break, with George North running in two tries to help them pull out a thrilling 24-19 win over the French. That massive come from behind victory will have done their confidence in Wales the power of good and that moved them onto a 10 match winning streak as well.

The other winners of the weekend were Scotland who were on total cruise control against Italy at Murrayfield. However when they lost Simon Burghan in the 71st minute to yellow card, Scotland just totally fell apart. Italy came back and produced three tries in the space of 8 minutes to really take the shine off the bonus point victories that Scotland had produced.
