England Underdogs

Captain Heather Knight has guided England well through the tournament and they enjoyed a comfortable eight-wicket victory over India in their semi final match. England had finished runners-up in their group, with the West Indies pipping them to the post. But things, fortunately, worked out for England because pre-tournament favourites Australia surprisingly failed to win Group B.

So that meant England were able to avoid them in the semi finals. They took their chance after batting second in that semi final match against India, with Amy Jones putting in a player of the match performance, firing off 53 runs from 45 balls after Heather Knight had taken 3/9 in getting India skittled out for 112.

Australia

Australia slipped up against India in their final group stage match. That was a match for the top spot and surprisingly, despite being favourites, Australia couldn’t convert. But they have some massive star power in Ellyse Perry of course who is lethal with the bat and the ball. That’s really the key player that England have to try and curtail in order to line themselves up with the chance at a victory in this one. It’s a fascinating rivalry that England and Australia have of course and that will just add the extra spice to this final.

England v Australia

After a thrilling 2017 Ashes series between the two old enemies, it is hoped that more thrilling, tight action continues between the two. During that multi-format Ashes Series England won 2-1 in the T20, England needing and getting the win in the third and final T20 clash. That was the last game of the Series as well giving England the tie.

Predictions

You have the two best teams in the world here at this format with no mistake really. Each have their superstars to call on, England looking to the likes of Heather Knight, nat Sciver and Anya Shrubsole, while the Australia’s have Perry and Alyssa Healy. It should be tight but of the two, Australia posted a better run rate in the group stage and may just have the edge in the batting power overall.
