England v South Africa Women’s Cricket World Cup Semi Final

England batting power to take down Proteas again

Cricket Betting

England are still on track to potential Cricket World Cup 2017 glory. They will show down against South Africa at the Brightside Ground in Bristol on Tuesday for a place in the semi final. These two, of course, met up in the round robin first stage of the competition and England Women had to bring their top batting game to the fixture. That was back in early July when England took a 68 run victory over South Africa. On that occasion, England’s Tammy Beaumont and wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor both posted solid centuries in the match to set England up.

That was in the first innings and South Africa stayed behind the needed run rate all of the way in their chase, but they did get over 300 runs, recording 305 in response to England’s 373 total. England’s batting has just gotten better and better as the tournament has rolled on and they always seem to have someone come good in a match with the bat in hand. There’s a lot of depth there. Beaumont has scored magnificently in the tournament and is a 3/1 punt at Coral to finish as England’s Top Batsman in the match, with Taylor as 5/2 favourite.

England v South Africa Women’s Cricket World Cup Semi Final odds

England Women 1/4, South Africa Women 3/1

After their surprise opening defeat, England have really stepped up to the plate and perhaps that spurred them on. They finished top of the table in the round robin phase, including a historic win over Australia, who are competition with India in the other semi final. No-one has been able to get close to England’s run rate in the tournament and that should carry them through pretty well in his one. South Africa are actually the ones who were the closest to England in the run-rate through the first stage.

England are well up in the head to head against South Africa in one-day internationals have won 18 of their previous 19 against them. This is South Africa’s first semi final in the World Cup since 2000 and they do carry a bowling threat in captain Dane van Niekerk who has produced some stunning performances, including taking four wickets for no runs in their group win over the West Indies. England can expect the Proteas to come back hard at them because after all they have no pressure on them and have nothing to lose from the position as the underdog.

Van Niekerk has to take some serious consideration to be the top bowler in the match, while from England’s perspective, Alex Hartley, Anya Shrubsole and Katherine Brunt, who have all contributed very well at the tournament, are all joint 7/2 favourites at Coral to be the England Top Bowler in the fixture. England’s batting power should again get them the win.
