Euro 2016 England and Top Goalscorer Update – Euro 2016 Betting

Vardy continuing to thrive in England colours

Euro Betting

England’s final preparations are underway ahead of Euro 2016 and Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy both found the net as they beat fellow finalists Turkey in a tasty friendly at the Etihad.

There has been criticism of England’s defending, and that certainly needs to be sharper if they are to progress significantly in France. The midfield also needs to look after the ball a bit better but it shouldn’t be ignored that Turkey’s defeat was their first in 18 months. Fatih Terim’s side also have a reputation for defensive resilience, yet England exposed them several times and could even afford to miss a penalty.
Jamie Vardy
England’s win hasn’t affected their odds to win Euro 2016, they are still a best 9/1, but Vardy, who now has three in three for his country having been the lynchpin of Leicester’s Premier League triumph, has been introduced into the betting to be Top Goalscorer in France at 50/1 with Coral.

One note of caution for punters wanting Vardy to succeed in France. He may be competing with England captain Wayne Rooney for his place in the team. Vardy will miss his country’s second friendly against Australia on Friday as he gets married this week so Rooney will reclaim his starting berth having missed the game against Turkey due to FA Cup Final commitments. Chris Smalling and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Nathaniel Clyne also return to the fold.

Coral have England at 4/5 to win Group B ahead of Russia, Wales and Slovakia but Roy Hodgson’s men can be backed at 11/13 in other places.  They are only a best 1/9 to qualify for the last 16.
