Europa League Tips – 29th November 2018

The Europa League is drawing near to a close as we head into matchday five this season. Seven teams are already through including Chelsea, Lazio and Arsenal. But there is still the top spot in groups to play for and Chelsea will get theirs if they avoid defeat against PAOK. Arsenal can go and win their group as they make a trip to Kiev to face Vorskla. Celtic and Rangers are playing to keep their qualification hopes alive until matchday six.

Here we take a look at the top Europa League tips and predictions for Thursday, November 29th, 2018. Kickoffs times vary.

Spartak Moscow v Rapid Vienna – 3.50 pm

This is all-important action from Group G, which is the group that Rangers are in. It is wide open as well with just two points separating leaders Villarreal from bottom side Rapid. Spartak need to target the win and if they get it on home soil while Rangers lose against Villarreal on the night, then the Russians get a qualification spot. Spartak played out a 3-3 draw at home against Villarreal and then took a thrilling 4-3 win over Rangers. So they have come up with the goals on home soil and that could be too much for Vienna to handle.

There’s a very good chance here for Spartak and they are 8/13 odds to convert on home soil in the game* (betting odds taken on November 27th, 2018 at 10:21 pm)

Salzburg v RB Leipzig – 5.55 pm

This comes from Celtic’s group where Salzburg only need a point on home soil in this one to win the group outright. They hold a six-point lead over Leipzig going into this one. Leipzig missed a chance to pretty much lock down qualification on matchday four as they lost at Celtic. A win in that one and they would have been all but home and dry. In their other away game in the group, they took a 3-1 win against bottom-side Rosenborg. If Leipzig win this and Celtic lose, then the Germans get through. But that’s easier said than done as Salzburg are a very strong home side though having won their two home games, scoring exactly three goals in each.

All but one of the games in the group have gone over 2.5 goals. It seems a simple conclusion to back this to go the same way at 8/15 odds* (betting odds taken on November 27th, 2018 at 10:21 pm)

Eintracht Frankfurt v Marseille 8.00 pm

German side Frankfurt are top of Group H by three points and they have a chance to pull off an upset. They could win the group on Thursday night if they can better whatever second-placed Lazio come up with. Even if they both win, Frankfurt took a big 4-1 home win over Lazio back on matchday two so that gives them a good head to head lead over the Italians. Anyway, to this game and the Germans look in good shape to win it. They have won their two group stage home games so far, scoring six goals in total, conceding one. They also won at Marseille on matchday one. With Marseille already eliminated and with nothing to play for, it will be interesting to see if the Germans can come up with the wind.

Helping Frankfurt here is Marseille’s situation and that should help push things towards the home win. Frankfurt to win at 8/11 odds* (betting odds taken on November 27th, 2018 at 10:21 pm)

Standard Liege v Sevilla – 8.00 pm

Standard Liege will be out of qualification contention if they lose and Krasnodar don’t, or if Liege draw and Krasnodar win. It is a good three-way battle in Group J for qualification and Standard Liege are three points behind joint leaders Krasnodar and Sevilla. So they need a good win in this one to get themselves back in the mix. The trouble is, the Belgians were hammered 5-1 out in Spain by Sevilla on matchday one. But what could give Standard Liege a bit of home is that Sevilla lost away at Krasnodar and only edged an away win at bottom side Akhisar. Liege have won their two home games by a 2-1 scoreline and it will be fascinating to see if they can make the most of home advantage in this one.

This should be a good game, but because Sevilla are such a tough side, the draw actually has the most appeal in the match outright at 11/4 odds* (betting odds taken on November 27th, 2018 at 10:21 pm)
