Everton News and Form – Can the Toffees beat Manchester City?

The Toffees suffered a bad loss last weekend. They were beaten 2-0 at Goodison Park by Sheffield United. Everton had been on top for most of the game, but the Blades stepped up and sucker-punched them. So Everton are now at W2 D1 L3 for the entire season and so much more was expected of them. They did win their other two home games over Watford and Wolves (the current bottom two). But the loss against Sheffield United last weekend had come directly after an away loss at Bournemouth.

So with Everton at W1 L3 in their last four league games, boss Marco Silva is starting to feel the heat. He’s not getting the returns his spending should have yielded. Everton have scored five Premier League goals this season and four of them have been in the first half of games. With their failure to get on the board last weekend, Everton have only scored in half of their league fixtures in this campaign. They have no clean sheet in four now after opening the season with back to back blanks against Crystal Palace and Watford.

Everton v Manchester City Head to Head

Manchester City won both league meetings in the last campaign
Everton have lost their last three against City and are winless in four
Both teams have scored in three of the last four meetings
Everton have won one of their last six league home games against the Citizens

Key-Facts – Everton v Manchester City

  • Man City average 4 goals per EPL game this season
  • Everton have lost three of their last four league games
  • The Citizens lost at Norwich in their last away game

Manchester City News and Form – Will City triumph at Goodison?

Punters probably knew that a response was going to come from Manchester City following their shock league loss at Norwich. The response duly came. It was a big one as well. An 8-0 home victory over a hapless Watford. That’s what the Citizens are capable of. City ran up five goals within the first twenty minutes of the match, that’s all it took to kill the contest against the Hornets. Raheem Sterling didn’t even play in the match, instead, it was Bernardo Silva who took centre stage scoring his first hattrick for the club.

The Citizens are W2 L1 out on their travels in the Premier League this season. They opened with wins over West Ham and Bournemouth before that shock at Norwich, where Pep Guardiola’s men looked off-kilter. The Citizens have scored at least two goals in all of their away games this season. Ridiculously they are averaging four goals per Premier League fixture at the moment. Of the four goals that they have conceded away from home, three of them have been in the first half of fixtures. Manchester City have opened the scoring in all but of their league fixtures in this campaign. They have been leading at half time in five of their six as well.

Everton v Mancehster City Predictions

Manchester City to win: When they are on their game Manchester City are just irresistible and unplayable. They have upped their output since that shock against Norwich. Everton are probably going to fall short at Goodison Park. Away win but both teams to score because City do have defensive issues.
