F1 German Grand Prix Betting Betting Info
After the rainy, miserable scenes at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, the circus moves on to Germany now, and the famous Hockenheim course. There has been no German winner at German Grand Prix since 2006 when Michael Schumacher drove his Ferrari home first. Spain’s Fernando Alonso leads the way in the 2012 Drivers Championship, but his three main challengers, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber are all 37 points or less behind him. So there is still plenty of work to be done on the season, and the gruelling endeavours of the 5.18km track will push drivers and cars to their limits.

F1 German Grand Prix Betting Betting Defending Champion
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton won the 2011 German Grand Prix, taking the chequered flag ahead of Fernando Alonso and the third placed Mark Webber. It was an easy win for Hamilton here last season, cruising home almost four seconds clear of Alonso. However, despite sitting fourth in the 2012 Drivers Championship, 37 points adrift of Alonso, Hamilton still believes that he can win the title this year. His car many have different ideas though, as the McLarens are really struggling for pace. They didn’t show up well at Silverstone last week, a track at which they really should have been one of the front runners, and that followed on from a disappointing run in Valencia, Spain in the previous race. Hamilton’s only triumph of the season so far was at the Canadian Grand Prix on June 10th, and he really needs another first place to haul in the leader. Apparently McLaren are bringing a significant upgrade to the German Grand Prix, as they attempt to close the gap on the Red Bulls and the Ferrari’s. So with a winning record in the German Grand Prix, can Hamilton pull out the stops? Coming off a 19th place finish at the European Grand Prix and an 8th at Silverstone, there is still a lot of work to do. Hamilton is trading at 11/2 with online bookmaker BetFred.

F1 German Grand Prix Betting Betting Favourite
Little surprise really that the favourite to win the German Grand Prix is a German. Double world champion Sebastian Vettel is the man who is leading the pack, trading at a price of 7/4 with online bookmaker BetFred. Vettel has not been as dominant this season in his Red Bull and is chasing down both Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and his own team mate Mark Webber who are above him in the Drivers’ Championship. No panic buttons are going to be pressed yet though, as he goes for just his second win of the season, looking to add to his victory in Bahrain. The speed in the Red Bull is getting better after some early season complications and the team to seem to be settling into the season much better than the McLarens are. Vettel is such a brave driver and such an expert at getting pole, that in front of his home fans he may just find that extra bit of speed. This is a race which he has not won before in his F1 career though, and now would be a great time to start for him.

Other Contenders
But Mark Webber in the other Red Bull is pushing hard this season, and tasted a glorious victory at Silverstone in the British Grand Prix in the last race. He bided his time and pounced on leader Fernando Alonso at the death to take a thrilling victory Webber admitted that that one had been one of his best, and it had taken a long time to sink in. Webber is having a pretty solid drive this season, and along with Fernando Alonso, is the only man to have won two Grands Prix this season. He out paced his team mate Vettel at Silverstone and the Australian should be in a good, confident mood at Hockenheim. Not sure if he will quite be able to match up to Vettel this weekend, but he is just trundling along very steadily and will be ready to pounce on any mistakes. Webber won the German Grand Prix in 2009 at the Nurburgring.

Fernando Alonso, winner of two races this season, the European Grand Prix and Malaysia, has pretty much exceeded everyone’s expectations of what he would be able to do in the Ferrari this season. Before the first drive of the season Alonso said that he was unlikely to be competitive, and here he is sitting thirteen points clear at the top of the Drivers’ World Championship. Not bad going, and it has been thanks to an all round good performance from his car and the Spaniard himself, because Felipe Massa in the other Ferrari has struggled badly this season. Alonso looks to be at the very peak of his driving at the moment, and the two times F1 World Champion will enjoy being at the head of the field. He has the cool head, the experience to take this on a step further and get his hands back on the title. Alonso took victory at Hockenheim in the 2010 German Grand Prix.

Best Outside Bet
Finland’s Kimi Raikkonen in his Lotus should really be pushing on at this stage. A lot of the other teams have been talking about the threat coming from the Lotus team this season and with Raikkonen just nine points adrift of fourth placed Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers’ Championship, he has the good to produce. So does his team mate Romain Grosjean. So with the test of endurance at the 2012 German Grand Prix, one of these could easily sneak in, but are good value in the Podium Finish betting odds.
