FA Cup 1st Round Replay Tips – October 20th, 2018

This is the second chance that the teams involved have at making it through to the FA Cup second round proper. It is FA Cup replay time in midweek with some great looking fixtures coming on Tuesday. Among them, Oxford City will be looking to cause an upset over Tranmere.

League Two side Cheltenham survived a trip to non-league Ebbsfleet and now will be looking to avoid the banana skin back at home. Here we take a look at some of the other FA Cup first round replays on Tuesday, November 20th.

Billericay v Chesterfield

What a big deal this is going to be for National League side Billericay who got out with a 1-1 draw at the Proact Stadium. It’s now back to home soil for the non-league side as they look to still pull off the upset. They are a league lower than the Spireites who fell from League Two last season. Chesterfield have drawn their last eight games (six of them 1-1) and Billeciary have drawn four of their last five. So it’s no surprise that this has gone back to a replay.

Another draw is at 12/5 odds and wouldn’t be a shock* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm)

Bradford v Aldershot

League One side Bradford are totally out of form but they managed to avoid the embarrassment of losing against non-league opponents in this tie. At least in the first attempt. The Bantams are having a terrible season with just three wins all season. They are D2 L8 in their last ten games. Then you have Aldershot with a shocking W1 D1 L8 away record this season.

We are going with the most basic option of a home win at 8/11 odds* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm).

Doncaster v Chorley

Credit to Chorley from the sixth tier for earning a 2-2 draw at home against Doncaster in this tie. They took the lead twice in the game as well but this should be difficult now out on the road. League One side Doncaster rescued the tie though and they are going to be strong favourites to convert back at the Keepmoat. Neither are in any particular kind of form at all.

We will predict Doncaster to win to nil for the replay at 10/11 odds* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm). They have won four of their last seven home games.

Forest Green v Oxford

It was a 0-0 draw at the Kassam Stadium for this FA Cup tie and there will pressure on League One side Oxford here now. They are facing a side a division beneath them in the English tiers and so this could be a tricky away. However, the U’s are on a decent run of unbeaten form and that is something that Forest Green don’t have at the moment.

We are sticking with the higher-ranked team. Away win at 8/5 odds against* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm).

Halifax v Morecambe

League Two side Morecambe missed the boat at home against non-league side Halifax and now we can see the Shrimps having a tricky time of things at The Shay. Halifax have only lost twice on home soil this season in all competitions while Morecambe lost their first six away games of the season before upping it to a W3 D2 record recently. That still hints at vulnerability though. But Morecambe’s improved away form has actually been against some of the stronger sides in their division.

That’s enough for us. Away win at 6/4 odds* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm).

Slough v Sutton United

There was a 0-0 draw between these two non-league sides at the first clash down in London. So now the two will be going at it at Arbor Park on Tuesday night in the replay. We can only see another low-scoring duel going down and Slough are the underdogs as they are one tier lower than Sutton. The visitors are unbeaten in their last six games home and away win all competitions and should still be able to shade this tie. Interestingly the one previous game between them in Slough ended in a 4-4 drawback in 2001.

We are with the away win in this one at 13/10 odds* (betting odds taken on November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 pm).
