Kilbrew Boy looking for back to back wins

Earlier in December, Kilbew Boy was out at Wincanton over 2m 4f and collected a very good win there. That was a success over Duc Kauto by over a length. What will have cheered supporters is that he delivered the goods as 7/2 joint-favourite in the fixture as well. In his career the six-year-old has won at that distance in both a chaise and a hurdle race, so lines up well as the key contender at Fakenham. Encore Champs leads the challenge

Five-year-old Encore Champs has a little misfire last time out as he finished third from last. He was really distant as well and it was a drop in performance after having taken a second place at Fakenham in his previous race, which had been over 2m. That performance on the track, however, in a Class 4 outing, does put him in the picture.

Eureu Du Bolay delivered a win at Fontainebleau over a slightly longer distance on heavy ground last month. So he has the distance in him and will prefer the footing a little on the softer side. That win which the collection in his last outing was by a notable 18 lengths. He has picked up three victories in the last year but is at a significantly sterner handicap than he was for his recent win.

Course and distance notes

There are two runners in his field who have delivered at course and distance. Thomas Todd is won of them and the 9-year-old campaigner came up with a win in his last outing, a fourt-length success at 9/2 to give him that course and distance record.

The other at course and distance is Itsafreebee, another 9 year old. He doesn’t mind the heavy going and took a second at Doncaster at 2m 3f in his last outing. That was back in January so it’s been a while since he’s seen action.
